My favourite studios are Kyoani and Colorido. Most don't really have a proper "style" so it's tough to pick favourites.

I agree JCstaff gets way too much flak but really they have a better portfolio overall than many studios considered above them. They are quite good at making something at least watchable every season or two, which is more than I can say for many other studios.
For example we generally think very highly of Dogakobo but, Plastic Memories exists. Luck and Logic exists. We seem to just be giving them a pass for now remembering things like YuruYuri and Nozaki-kun, but a few more shits from them and I don't think we'll be in the honeymoon period for them anymore. On that, Sansha Sanyou seems solid next season and right up theirbl alley in talents, so they will probably maintain their image in the near future.

Those decisions on who gets to do what may not all be in Doga's hands though, maybe TYO is ridiculously cheaper for publishers to deal with or something.

Golden Time was fucking awful. Ghost Banri was a funny meme but the show was plagued with shit characters and other such bullshit. And Sakurasou's take on hard work vs talent was horrible.
