>anime backlog
>manga backlog
>partial mainstream vidya backlog
>obscure shitty weeb vidya backlog
>LN backlog

I didn't even watch Steins;Gate until 2015.

I waited for S3 of Shana for years, dating back to days when I could image dump the shana folder without recaptchas. And I still haven't started it.

I must ask, is the average person here the type to watch a shitload of anime and just play a littla vidya, if at all? I feel like I'm in too deep in both.
>>
>>137984524
I don't know if that's average. I'm the same sort as you, OP. My backlog never gets any smaller.
>>
I used to watch everything on a laptop, honestly I don't think I even began to really watch anime until I got a monitor a couple years ago.
>>
>>137984576

Oh mine gets smaller, but shit probably just goes on it faster than it comes off. I make progress. I track it. I'm fucking autistic. I've got notepads... computer type ones. Documents.

>>137984662

As in... an experience wise?
>>
>anime backlog
Around 4-6 months to finish going at my regular 3-4 hour a day anime watch schedule
But only If I don't end up watching 25+ show a season

>manga backlog
None, I read manga during work and I have started to forget I even read some stuff after reading some 1400 titles

>vidya backlog
2-3 years

>VN backlog
Around 15 months

>LN backlog
Could finish it in 2 months.
>>
>>137984750

My LN backlog is relatively small. Only stuff that I really enjoy. Even then I'm only trying to read one volume a month.

I kind of like it that way, taking it in over a much longer period of time.
>>
i have a backlog of posting ellipses, frogs, cliche/greentext threads etc
>>
>>137984967
I have read most of the translated LNs quite a while ago, now I just wait for them to end or finish the remaining untranslated volumes, I kept delaying reading Kawakami's LNs since they're so fucking huge, but that came to bite me in the ass since js06 translates fast.
Now the LN backlog is 100% made of OnC/Horizon/CITY/Hexenacht
>>
>>137984524
>Anime backlog
A lot of my stuff just sits there unfinishe. Could finish in maybe a month or two if I didn't have to study so much.

>Manga backlog
I usually obliterate my manga backlog in two to four days every nine or so weeks, I update it every eight weeks so yeah

>vidya backlog
lol, never ever. i need to stop picking up games, damn it

>VN backlog
I play around 2 or 3 at the same time, just finished Euphoria, half-way through Grisaia, and two routes competed in Majikoi. Still have 16 of them in my backlog, mostly vns considered quintessential

>LN backlog
Just started reading a lot more lately. I've completed four LN volumes over the last 4 or 5 months, currently reading spice and wolf
>>
You're gonna end up killing yourself when you do end up clearing your backlog.

Take it slow, you have all the time in the world.
>>
People keep wanting to finish their backlogs.
I cannot stress enough that this is the wrong approach.
1) Just watch what you want to watch. Don't give yourself any unnecessary stress through the impossible task of finishing your backlog.
2) Having a few shows in reserve is a great thing when you can't find anything new to watch for some reason (or if you can't download, for an equally unforeseeable reason).
3) Actually finishing your backlog only creates a situation where you have to build up a new backlog. Not only are you back to square one, but you also had to invest work to get there.

Take it easy. Remember to have fun. Smile when best girl smiles.
>>
>>137984524
Where's your regular book backlog, Anon? Don't tell me you don't read?
>>
>going through vidya backlog
>finish 2 games
>suddenly have the urge to replay an older game that ends up lasting 100+ hours

This will never end.
>>
>>137985344
>>137985328

It's not that I hate having a backlog, I hate knowing there there are gems I'm not aware of in it.

Like my vidya backlog, it took me so long to get to Nier and Vanquish. And they were bloody great!

And I only just this weekend got around to One Punch Man. And I hadn't been following the manga at all.

>>137985488

Eh, it's there, but it's relatively small.

That and I hate picking up a book and seeing

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BEST SELLING AUTHOR (LIKE ALL OF THEM APPARENTLY ARE)

PEN NAME, EXTREMELY LARGE LETTERS

book title
>>
>>137985555
>I hate knowing there there are gems I'm not aware of in it.
Consider it a boon.
No matter how long you spend on this hobby, there's always something left that's worth discovering.
>>
>>137985555
>Nier
Funny, I finished DOD1 yesterday.
>>
>>137984711
>Oh mine gets smaller, but shit probably just goes on it faster than it comes off
yeah, pretty much what I mean

I'm told you need to focus, but it's hard.
>>
>>137985715

That sounds awful!

>>137985606

What about things I wish I could undiscover? Like the Yumekui Merry adaptation?

That shit literally made me stop watching anime for 2 years.
>>
>>137985764
>What about things I wish I could undiscover?
I have no experience with that kind of wish. I've never wanted to lose knowledge of any kind. Sorry, can't help you there.
>>
Due to the nature of my work, I often read manga on my phone when I've got hours of time and nothing to do.

I actively go out and search for things to read.

Starting Kaiji part 3 soon, just finished FKMTs Zero works. PART FUCKING 3 WHEN.
>>
Stop.
Backlogs aren't supposed to get smaller. That isn't how they work.

You should be happy to add things to your backlog. I've run out of manga I wanted to read once and it was awful. Never again.
>>
>>137986471

I didn't even read manga until I watched Ippo.

A shame how that one turned out.

I didn't start reading manga till I watched the Kenichi anime.
Also a shame how that turned out. On the other hand it got me in to manga.
>>
>>137984524
Aside from a VN every few months, I basically don't play video games. Just manga and anime.

But that's how backlogs work.
>>
>>137984524
I don't even have a manga backlog, I just find stuff and read what's available. It's much simpler/easier for some reason than getting through an anime, so I don't really fall behind.
>>
>>137984524
How about you read a book for once, you fucking cretin.

>Wanting MORE backlogs
Books are even fucking worse because they take way longer than manga and arguably anime depending on the book.

Plus there are a shit load of good ones. Don't regret reading them though. Wheel of Time was basically anime, harem and all.
>>
>>137985523
At least you manage to finish games. I get distracted with older ones and then comepletly forget to continue the newer ones. I have been playing KOTOR 2 for eleven years

I'll never write another essay again if I can avoid it.
>>
>>137987126
So stop playing video games and instead read books. Problem solved.
>>
>>137987126
My dad finishes a book per week, except during the holidays, when he finishes 1+ book per day.
He's a fucking monster. He's turned his apartment into a library. Then he turned the room at his girlfriend's house into a second library.
He's got almost no space to live and he keeps buying more books.
>>
>>137987238
Nah. Personally I have anime/manga/books/VNs/LNs/books/lifting/cooking all as hobbies and I like it that way.

Never get bored of them. I'll teeter around to each one (aside from lifting/cooking done every day). Watch a few series of anime, read a few manga series, read a book or a book series, play a VN, catch up with an LN, etc.

Feels good. Don't get burnt out that way.

>>137987339
>Not reading ebooks
Physical books are such a waste of space and eink tablets are objectively superior. Your dad still sounds like a cool guy though, plus some books don't have ebook formats.

>>
>>137987594
Backlogs aren't in the way of fun, so long as you don't feel the need to finish them.
>>
>>137987594
Backlogs in themselves aren't fun, but they should be used as an aid for your hobbies to never run out of enjoyable content.

I don't understand people who think their backlog is some kind of chore. Stop thinking of it like that.
>>
>>137987510
I've stopped playing the second before just to do a full playthrough of the first. Sometimes I annoy myself.
>>
>>137987698
Do you play modded at least?
I don't think I'd be able to stand so many run-throughs of unmodded Kotor2.
>>
>>137987766
Yea I do that at least. I might actually do it this time.
>>
>>137986057
>I often read manga on my phone
Same here, if I read manga or watch anime on my computer I end up getting distracted and browse 4chan and other sites like I'm doing right now.
>>
>>137987482
I don't feel like I should be 8K or anything like that but I think the 1.7K bracket that I'm in isn't fitting. I'd say I'm about 2.5K at best, but certainly not 1.7.

I think the ranked system is a bit flawed in it's current state
