I've seen a bunch of memes and shitposting, but I can't get a real
idea of what people think of it.
When did you first watch FLCL?
I think i was nine when I saw it first.
It's pretty good, The Pillows kickass and the show was fun

I saw it first at 15, didn't really understand it, watched it again and loved it.
Since then I've seen it about 6 or 7 times start to finish, it's my favorite by virtue of rewatching, how many shows can you go back and enjoy 8 times over

/a/ is full of people who like it, and people who think it's pretentious. It's been a while since I've seen a non-troll FLCL thread. But when IG announced a possible remake, /a/ generally seemed opposed to the idea on the grounds that it was good as-is.

I liked the Marquis de Carabas and my second favorite is Full Swing. I actually wasn't a huge fan of Brittle Bullet but I only watched once so I may need to see it again.

The music, animation and over all vibe of the show is so nostalgic for me and I didn't even watch it on Adult Swim. It's the combination of early 2000s animation, the kick-ass music and the that dew-y aesthetic. Definitely a case of style over substance, but as with any fan base, people always read into things to find meaning, even if it wasn't intentionally put in. In a way, I prefer series that are open to interpretation like this, it's what makes art, art. Obviously, the fact that FLCL relies so heavily on its style to keep you interested is what makes it so controversial. Anyway, I loved it.

With FLCL a lot of things are left up to the viewer's own interpretations, so considering that, I've noticed FLCL seems to appeal a certain personality type, though I can't put my finger on what type that would be.

Flcl is adolescense for me. I watched it when I was 11 and it blew my mind. Back when there was an anime channel on satellite it would always be on late at night. I'd stay up late and sneak out to the living room to watch it either muted or with the sound turned so low I had to sit 2 feet in front of the TV to hear it.
Watched it so many times. The style, characters, and ost are godlike. I can't understand anyone who doesn't like it.

I liked it; It was quite fun. Definitely not a masterpiece, nor masterfully done, but the places it went to, and the way that it went to them were all very interesting and, at times, poignant. Also The Pillows.

The best anime ever made by a relatively wide margin.
Watching it feels like being a kid again, just at that point when the world seems both impossibly massive and horribly pathetic at the same time. Nothing I've ever experienced has made me feel like I was in a specific place in my life so strongly.
God damn, I love it too much. Those brief glimpses that I have of how nice the world can be, this show presents its own world through the same lens. Warm sunlight, calm water, the cool smell that comes with dusk in summer time.

How do eyebrows tie into that? Wouldn't a mustache have been a better choice for something manly? Furthermore, it seemed like the eyebrows were something to ward against/protect him from/symbolically swear him off associating with Haruko. It's my favorite anime.
And as much as I felt uneasy of Produciton IG hinting a reboot or sequel/prequel by buying the right, I kind of want to see it. I want to see how they will handle it and if they will use different Pillows songs for their new soundtrack
FLCL was an awesome show. But if you get distracted by the absolute absurdity of the show itself, you'll find a deep and meaningful story and deep character creation. Very fun over all. Watch it.
