The game is just out and a lot of people wont buy it at full price (or whatever sale it has right now). There's also the fact that you only get these from crafting badges and you can only craft a booster pack (containing 3 cards) once per day which means it can take weeks to get enough cards to get up to level 5 in the badge. You also need to own the game to actually craft a booster pack for that game.
Then there's the fact that it's rare - so you have a very low chance in your 5 attempts of levelling the badge to get it yourself otherwise you need to buy it from someone else. And since it's a generic animu girl wallpaper it'll cost like 10 times more than it should be. It's an utterly stupid systemand one I've made a lot of profit off of via VNs and JRPGs like Agarest with anime girl wallpapers.

There's also the thing that you can only have 7 cards now. The cards have been out for... 17 hours now? So you can only have your 4 card drops + 3 cards from a pack. In seven hours, you can have the required 8 cards to even make a badge without trading cooldown.
So, the fact that there's already two RARE backgrounds is pretty much a miracle. 99% of people haven't purchased the game on multiple accounts or scammed others into trading their packs for them (I laugh at all the "paying 1000 gems for your pack, it's only 750 gems so you win!" threads).
Prices will collapse bigtime once the cards have been out for a week, since that's when all the day1 card buyers can sell their backgrounds.
