becoming a god, surpassing all previous assumptions, blowing up anything at will, having magical powers that have no specific limits, and an exploration of the implications of discarding your morality in favor of enjoying violence for its own sake, along with the promise of absolute power and the opportunity to use it
freeza was originally a brilliant villain, in that he was always calm and arrogant no matter what he was faced with, completely certain of his own absolute power, he was definitely better than he seems now
the reason why vegeta is growing in popularity and goku is becoming more and more boring is that people are waking up to the idea that these things are at least partially possible, but only to those who have the confidence to completely ignore other people's preferences
Vegeta is a jobber, and has been humiliated for years, but once he accepts that Goku is his superior and works from that starting point, he's infinitely more alpha and will easily surpass him
