Farthest down the list in OP's image would probably be this.

>>
>>137777547
I think it's more to do with the chart being fucking stupid.
>>
>>137777202
But the chart does have some confusion in its presentation.

"Accessibility" and "Obscurity" aren't synonyms. When taking about media, "accessibility" usually means ease of audience understanding or relation. A summer blockbuster is more accessible to a general audience than a foreign indie art film. It IS about depth and complexity, since more complex/ambitious media tend to be less accessible to general audiences.

"Obscurity" refers to popularity and perhaps difficulty to find. A show can be very accessible but very obscure, like some children's show made in Albania in the 70s that everyone would get but you can't find anywhere.

A show that's obscure isn't necessarily more complex or less accessible than a show that's easily available.
>>
>>137776444
According to that piece of shit, Texhnolyze.
>>
According to that list, Inaka Isha or Human Salvation Project.
>>
This TV Tropes page actually does a good job of ordering anime according to actual obscurity, meaning in terms of popularity/notoriety.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SlidingScaleOfAnimeObscurity
>>
>>137776444
Where does "obscure animated movie made by a guy from Poland who works now in anime on backgrounds" places me?

Also, how is this list made? The deeper the anime is, the less populat it is? Or is the story deeper? I'm asking, because I burst out laughing, when I saw HxH so much deeper than stuff like One Piece or FMA. First tell us the rules, then call other people's taste pleb.
>>
Short films like Robot Carnival, Genius Party/Beyond, Memories. Obscure is pretty relative though.
>>
>>137777993
According to that list, Digimon or Doraemon are anime for obsessed otakus that have been watching anime for years and are starting to learn Japanese.
>>
>>137778018
The TV Tropes page has good definitions for levels of obscurity:

>Level 0: Series is so well-known that many people outside of the anime fandom generally know about this. The series is to some extent part of worldwide pop culture (and usually dominates in Japan). In the English-speaking fandom almost all anime in this category were those released in America as a kid-oriented English dub on network television during The '90s, although this isn't a rule, as there are a couple of animes released before or after that decade that also qualify.

>Level 1: Some people outside the anime fandom may have heard of this. Pretty much everyone in the fandom knows about the series. They may not know it in great detail, but they should know enough to talk about the series and likely have an opinion on it. You may find limited traces of it in pop culture.

>Level 2: Detailed knowledge is mainly restricted to a specialized fandom, but most people in the fandom know about it enough to have some idea what it's about.

>Level 3: General awareness is not guaranteed, but fandoms are sizable enough to be notable.

>Level 4: Fandoms are small, but sizable enough that the series still shows up on some radars. For example, you may be able to find a number of fan-videos focused on these series, and chances are that in any bunch of 10-20 tropers you might have one or two who know the series in question other than you. The internet has really helped bring these fandoms together, due to how small and scattered they tend to be.

>Level 5: Even more obscure. Fandoms very small, mainly because word hasn't really even got out about the existence of this series. You'd probably be lucky to find 1 out of those 20; you should be casting your net wider. If the series isn't current, you might be one of only a handful in a convention who knows of it.

>Level 6: For things that, while they exist, seem to be impossible to find, even on the internet with modern proliferation of filesharing.
>>

>Also, how is this list made? The deeper the anime is, the less populat it is? Or is the story deeper?
>being this new
>>
>>137778120
Oh, and for the purpose of this categorization "anime fandom" means:

>The general anime fandom, as relevant to this list, is defined as being English-speaking anime fans on the Internet.

Japanese anime fandom would have a very different list.
>>
>>137778072
Fuck, seems like 80% of people I know in my age group from my country is really fucking deep into anime then.

I guess that list was made mainly for USA, since there are places where stuff like GTO, Magic Knight Rayearth or Slayers are really well known and comparably nostalgic to Dragon Ball and Pokemon.
>>

Ai City isn't that obscure. That's the one gripe I have with this list. I'd say anything that gets a release in the west and a dub isn't super deep.
If you don't have an AB account you're a level 3 at max. And if you haven't had to find raws for the show you wanted to watch because no on else knows anything about it then you're a fucking normie.

Is this a joke? I have an AB account and use it occasionally, but the number of things that you actually can't get elsewhere are tiny. Hell, there are some obscure things on nyaa you can't get on AB.

Key the Metal Idol aired on PBS (KTEH) in the San Francisco Bay Area in the the late 90s/early 00s.

Genius party is pretty great, really liked some of the shorts.
>>
>>137780599
Key the Metal Idol was in multiple bargain bins across the country. It had both a DVD and VHS release as well. But now no one has heard of it. It's a massive shame as well, as it had a massive influence despite not being very famous or well known and the director's only work.
The OST is also fucking amazing
