Has anyone else here read Sundome?
I started reading it like 3 hours ago on a whim, thinking it might be good for a fap or two (and it was) but I couldn't put it down and read trhough the entire thing without taking a break. Jeeesus christ, the ending hit me like a god damned freight train.
I think it managed to simultaneously be one of most intimate, erotic and saddest mangas I've ever read. The sad was probably amplified by the fact I didn't expect anything more than some cheap JO fuel going into it. I was surprised to find out it was translated into english, and also that, for some reason, they made a JAV out of it, which looks terrible.

Sundome was a pretty big thing for me. I read it a month or two ago and couldn't really get over the ending until two weeks ago.I can accept that "we can have sex when I wake up" is a morbid joke and that she's probably okay with the rape of her corpse, but that doesn't make me sleep any easier. I don't fault Hideo for it, and I don't think it makes the ending any worse. I just can't like it. What I did like was in the epilogue. When he says "hey how about that golden shower, after all?" It really signals that he's grown up and moved on; and he really has found someone to love again. Even if he's having problems; he's still moved on and is living a healthy life. Remembering the girl that changed his and helping others as a doctor. She really changed Hideo for the better, and that's what makes Sundome pretty good. The only thing that's making me cry right now is that ICan't remember her name.

Only about 1/3 of it is translated and the ending looks pretty bad, judging from the last chapter (which is one of the translated ones).
The mangaka doesn't seem to be a big fan ofhappy endings.

Eh, I mean, it was a happy enough ending for the MC in Sundome, at least after the timeskip. Like another anon said, she made him a better person, and he probably madethe last year or so of her lifea lot more enjoyable than it would have been otherwise. It was definitely sad, but it wasn't bleak or hopeless. IDK about ibitsu.

The very short version:
He is some awkward social outcast who works at a sex toy shop and has doll making as hobby and she doesn't have a family (or something like that) and then it goes:
