Is there an easy way to rebind the tank after debinding? There're several books I'd like to scan but they're so full of double-spreads that I don't think my usual pressing method would work, but I really hate the idea of ruining my books forever as well.

No, not really. Especially when you consider that most manga is like $5 or $10 so it really doesn't end up being cost effective for the time and skill it takes. If you want to scan manga but you aren't prepared to debind them, then you're just wasting everyone's time IMO.
Any recommendations/guides on scanners and scanning in general? I am mainly interested in hardware and how to produce as high quality scans as possible.

Just get a modern flatbed scanner for about $100. You need something that can output at least 600dpi, can do 48bit color and where you can control all scan settings. From there, it's just a matter of the scanner's speed and physical dimensions. Canon makes good scanners.

Spent three weeks scanlating something solo. Had to do a ton of redrawing and the typesetting was a huge pain due to certain uncommon issues. Released it and not a single person expressed any gratitude so I guess no one wanted it.

Anyone here know a good source where to get raw magazine scans? I only recently started to take interest in it, so I have no clue about the scene. Under usual circumstances I'd make nyaa my starting point and try to hunt down uploaders, but they're DDoS'd again for millionth time this week. I'd like to try out ongoing series from magazines for practicing Japanese. Reading something fresh of the presses when others still wait for it and thereby enjoying the nice feeling like I put the language to very practical use might help combat my natural laziness.
