Is there ever going to be a second season of aku no hana? I know a lot of people disliked the rotoscoping/art style, but it really wasn't a bad show. Plus it ended on kind of a cliffhanger, with the "End of Part 1" thing, and it seemed like they already had a number of scenes from what would be the second season done already.

Also, from what I understand it was relatively cheap to make, I've heard it came in under budget but I'm not really 100% positive about that.
>>
is good show but doubt it
>>
>the scene where saeki rapes kasuga will never be rotoscoped
feels sad man
>>
>>137660902
unfortunately, its unlikely

its been a couple years and theres been no news
>>
>>137661934
>>
i don't think it did that well anyway
>>
>>137663282
god, sometimes japs piss me off

sure, the rotoscoping probably could have been executed a bit better, but it was there for a reason and it was appropriate for the tone. But since it wasn't typical anime style people freaked the fuck out.

I just wish we'd get more stuff that experimented like this.
>>
>>137663372
its a rough situation because it was being sold as an anime but it really doesnt cater at all to the typical anime audience`s tastes

im not sure at all how they marketed it but i doubt it did well financially. its a shame because the manga was fantastic and the anime adaptation was unique and pretty fulfilling as an adaptation.

i also love that they got the singer of midori to do an opening
>>
It sucked. If they were going to rotoscope it they may as well have just made it live action. It comes off as pretentious and trying to be different just because it wants attention, which is ironic considering the source material's core meaning criticizes just that.
>>
>>137663492
>really doesnt cater at all to the typical anime audience`s tastes
yeah, it definitely felt like a regular tv show than an anime

>singer of midori to do an opening
fuuuuuck i knew i recognized that voice

>>137663549
No, not really. It didn't come off as pretentious in the slightest. Live action would not have had the same feeling to it, they used rotoscoping to make it look strange and inhuman, which is entirely appropriate given the subject matter. They used the uncanny valley to their advantage, it's meant to make you feel uneasy. Kinda similar to the movie adaptation of A Scanner Darkly, although I think AnH worked better.

Not everything that tries something new just "wants attention." And your attitude is the precisely the reason most anime is so samey/derivative.
>>
>>137660902

>and it seemed like they already had a number of scenes from what would be the second season done already.

That's not how anime works for any studio besides Kyoani. They animated those clips specifically for that episode. There was production work done for a season 2, because no such thing was greenlit.
>>
>>137663680

> they used rotoscoping to make it look strange and inhuman, which is entirely appropriate given the subject matter.

Maybe if the second half of the manga didn't exist. But then that wouldn't be a complete work, just like the anime isn't, because without its second half its meaning isn't fully there. And the second half of the manga, where the entire point is dispelling that edgy pretentiousness Nakamura and Kasuga were so invest in, does not not mesh well with that visual. And what are they gonna do, suddenly stop rotoscoping when it reaches that point? Doubt it.

Besides, the director said the only reason he did it like that was just because he thought doing an actual anime would be boring.
>>
It sold like shit and I doubt the manga sales made an impact.

I really doubt a second season is likely, unless they advertise it as non-rotoscoped.
>>
Is there no manga source material? I also enjoyed the anime, I watched it freshmen year when I first started watching seasonal anime and it was unique to say the least.
>>
>>137660902
its one of my favorite anime (although some might not like to call it that) and felt its atmosphere and pacing made it brilliant. Its a shame the waifuotakufag base in japan hated the shit out of it.

The director said back in 2014 he still planned to move forwards, and we can assume by the flash forwards they had at least a few episodes ready for roto, but its still doubtful. But this is the same director who took 8 years for mushishi s2, so who knows.
>>
Not interested. The manga was fine, that's all that matters.
>>
>>137663549
>what is uncanny valley

>>137664061
what if in S2 it slowly turned from roto to live action, being both pretentious and artsy while maintaining it was getting rid of it
final seen showing schizophrenia vision is full anime-style
>>
>>137664192
there's like 52 chapters of the manga, which finished, and the show only went to 20. They probably are reluctant to move forward with it because the art style pissed off otaku.

>But this is the same director who took 8 years for mushishi s2, so who knows.
didn't know that. I'm sad now.
>>
>>137664213

>and we can assume by the flash forwards they had at least a few episodes ready for roto

No, no we can't. You clearly don't know how anime production works. They don't make things like that ahead of time, if there are previews made they made those scenes only.

Wasn't the author of it unaware what it would be like? Once he found out he would not even accept the free DVD as gift.

You bet your ass that this hot garbage has no chance in hell at S2.

google. yes, its even been localized. s1 wasnt even half of the manga, more like 25%.

I keep hearing this, but I want an actual confirmation. It's too good to be true

no, he heard the idea and was all for it and shilled it in his manga while it was airing

More like because the show did mediocre in BD sales

>>137664425

Mediocre is understatement. You need to be break 1,000 to be called mediocre; Aku no Hana sold more like 300-400 for the first BD, less for the latter ones.
>>
>>137664321
Hot.
>>
>>137664425
and who buys BDs of anime in japan anon?

are you also aware 2+2=4?
>>
>>137664418
I dropped it like two episodes from the end. I got sick of everything taking a year and a half to progress and shapeless blobs on screen because a studio with zero talent and zero money tried to do something well beyond their capabilities.
>>
It was a stupid idea from the get go. Why would you make a show like that knowing damn well no one would like it? It could have been an actually well done show and it still wouldn't have sold well..

i liked it

its on my 3x3. who knew, people have different opinions.

if they had made it look 'animu' it could have sold well because muh edge when rapes and edgy kids.
>>
>>137664673

>it's intentional therefore it looks good!

It was a stylistic choice and it objectively looked bad and despite intentionally being poorly drawn and with ultra-simplistic shading it still looked a million times better than Aku no literally who
>>
Yesh it seemed to have come and went without really blowing up. Anime really is in a horrible situation with how they pace out their seasons.
Hopefully integrating with things like netflix and the like will allow for larger fan bases, make it easier to find and a change in the system.
But with AnH specifically I loved the manga so I'm a little bias but I thought the anime was so good. It was unsettling and the rotoscoping was used intelligently. But yeah chances of a second season probably aren't high.

Yeah, because judging something that is meant to be viewed in motion from a single frame is a thing smart people do.

Your 2/5s of an opinion is noted. Again, fuck off.
>>
>>137664701

Just cause you liked it doesn't mean my obvious exaggeration isn't any less true. Basically, no one liked it. Which is why it sold like shit and isn't getting a second season.

I defended the show for most of the time it was airing. But after a while it gets hard to defend the questionable direction decisions like pointless, drawn out, scriptless shots of characters walking down empty city streets, particularly when they're clearly only there to fill out time in the episode.
Especially after finishing the manga, I couldn't say the anime was okay anymore.

It was overused too much to a point it got redundant. You could legit skip most of the show and you would hardly miss a thing. They could have handle this part way better then what they did.
>>
>>137665691
>skip the parts that build up atmosphere in conjecture with the sound

kind of a faggot
>>
>>137666427
I didn't skip in the initial first time. After re-watching it I saw there was no real point of it. Especially when the manga didn't even follow this theme.
>>
Imagine the Anime only waifufags.

I'm thankful they went for that style, perfect for the manga tone.
>>
>>137665691
>It was overused too much to a point it got redundant
Gee it's almost like the spleen, the main point in Baudelaire's works.
It's pottery, anon. I don't expect you to understand it.
