I dunno man, the director of Diebuster fucked with the pacing and narrative pretty hard in order to, I guess, "increase tension" or something. There are flashbacks everywhere and certain quotes, scenes, and dialogue in the beginning don't make sense until the trend or on a 2nd watch-through. It doesn't work toward the show's benefit in my opinion but on a research does make for a more satisfying show when you see how the pieces fit together.
Reminds me of FLCL in that sense. Fun the first time through, but it doesn't really click until the 2nd or 3rd watch
