I feel like i am being cleverly rused, but in case I'm not, it seems like you didn't even watch the show. Or maybe you watched it once and hated it and just formed your opinion without ever going back.
Because actually, Taiga is only 100% full on tsundere for the first 3-4 episodes. After that, it is obvious she is in love with him and she even admits that during the pool training arc which is like episode 8 or 9. Before even halfway into the show, she is fully in love and gets mad that he can't see that. Why do you think she flipped out at the pool? Because she is a dumb tsundere haha violence XD? Or maybe it was because she is frustrated Ryuuji can't understand she wants him to be with her over the summer. She gets mad when he implies she doesn't really care whether he goes to Ami's summer house or not because somehow he still hasn't noticed she is literally fighting to keep him.
On top of that, how do you not see that the blurring between friend, classmate, caretaker, lover is all really confusing and that was the fucking point. They couldn't express their feelings properly because they didn't know if they were genuine. Maybe it is only because they lived next to each other, maybe it's only because Ryuuji likes to cook and clean. In the end, they realize he only does that shit for her and nobody else and they belong together. Alright, you can go ahead and say you were baiting all along now to do some damage control.

thing is, this was the case
and yet the story constantly has her push him towards Minorin solely to keep up the "will they/won't they get together" melodrama, and they did this for way, way too long. The last 1/3rd of the show was just plain frustrating to watch, where the plot stopped moving forward solely because every character (except Ami?) being extremely dense
and then when the conclusion everyone knew was going to happen 15 episodes ago finally does happen, it's massively rushed + Taiga fucks off for a year just to add some more melodrama I guess
The characters are arguably generic but that isn't even a bad thing provided that they're done well. The story itself simply turns to boring shit for no good reason.

I like that he's played like a self-insert. Certainly he has self-insert characteristics but he's his own character and you're pretty obviously not meant to keep relating to him. You can tell from the beginning he's flawed as you can't really tell if he prefers Taiga or Minori and this carries on throughout the show.
Also, he's just plain funny. His jokes to do with his cleaning and cooking are great, plus his shenanigans with Ami.

Tragic character. Watching her growth throughout the show is just plain depressing. She comes off at first as an idol type character who has development only to show us that this isn't enough to get the guy, yet she still doesn't become anything more than a puppetmaster even though she wishes she were a puppet.

Not much to say. She's messed up in the head. She has sort of semi reasons for being the way she is but these are all made explicitly clear so I won't go into detail with her.

Again, her reasons for her being the way she is are made almost abundantly clear. I like her because she's cheerful so she'd be fun to be around, but also horribly flawed. The culmination of the Christmas arc showing her fragile ego is down beautifully.

He's great because he's at first played as The Straight Man yet we soon see he also isn't quite right in the end. Kitamura's an interesting character because he's at first portrayed to be the only normal one of the group and his existence is basically there to help with one of the major themes of the show that "there's more to life after high school". He's there to say that that love triangle/square with the main characters? That's not the only thing going on in the show. Kitamura is involved with his own love triangle/square/whatever to show there's more to life than our main characters.
And it's done so subtly too. Kitamura played an important role in the theme(s) of the show, as did the teacher.

Same here actually, just started watching this about a week ago. Right now I'm 9 episodes in and the show itself is relatively interesting so far. Tons of anime have done similar plots but there is something weirdly entertaining about such a basic story. I think the argument here is that Ryuji came to Taiga when she was essentially non-functional as a person and essentially took care of her. This isn't a bad thing to do, but continuing this for any period of time or into a romantic relationship can be dangerous as either party may feel they are unable to leave the relationship or may feel obligated to stay in it.
I would say this problem is avoided by Taiga displaying that she can in fact function on her own if she needs to, building her own relationships, etc. But I see where the argument comes from.
