I don't watch anime to see realistic characters. Generally, they are not realistic by default and that is kind of the point. Now I'm not a huge Evangelion fan or anything despite my defending this aspect of the writing, but the characters are written to show more human emotion and response to their situation than the typical anime, for sure.
It's just that Usagi is barely a rung or two above the bottom of the barrel of generic anime girls so it's an especially poor argument when the topic is "realistic" characters (quotes because again, anime characters are not generally intended to be realistic by the nature of the medium).
