Now, in Takeuchi's defense, the dude probably just wants to showcase how much his artstyle has "evolved" or at least changed since the original release of Tsukihimei or even show off his development since Fate. That's natural for an artist.
Unfortunately, this will come at the expense of designs people have come to know and love.
I can practically hear Takeuchi's thought process when changing the designs:
