Anyone who thinks that it has any wit or comedic value has shit taste.
By having fun comedy with an interesting world and great characters with unique powers.
It also doesn't TRY to be art. Deviant-art tier manga would be people trying their best and it looks like shit, but they still think it's acceptable. It's also cringe worthy as fuck.
This is someone who knows he can't draw, but wants to convey a story to people with a format people can understand. His paneling is actually pretty good and it's enjoyable to read.
The art doesn't try to be something it's not, and neither does this manga.

Everyone knows ONE's style and they love it too. Even Murata uses it with his ultra detailed style sometimes, and the PV of Mob Psycho 100 is almost entirely in that style.

Not extremely popular at all. I think it had many viewer on the internet compared to other internet manga, but not popular.
It became popular here Japan because we heard French people started to pick up Murata's version manga.
Pretty sure it's popular because it's basically a shonen hero living the life of a hero long after he became the strongest motherfucker ever. Saitama doesn't train anymore, he just punches shit because it inexplicably shows up, but it's boring as fuck. It also addresses the fucked up nature of how someone with a lot of ability doesn't get credit for a bunch of amazing shit they do, and other people sometimes can't even recognize that ability. It explores a lot of relatable themes that don't normally get talked about, and it does it in a fun way.

I still can't get why are people on /a/ obsessed with races of anime characters. For Japanese people, we naturally ignore which ethnic group or minority group they belong to. Americans are obsessed with "Political Correctness" which is just a bunch of Whites' circlejerk. Their PC culture only makes minority harder to live but at least it makes White people believe they have done something to "weaker" minorities.

To compare the two, I'd say OPM has been more solid throughout most of its story compared to MP100, which really can't be helped as OPM has had longer "arcs" while MP100 has had to hop through several "short" arcs between its more major ones and people here can't appreciate the more sentimental, thoughtful aspects of the story.
As for characters, we've certainly gotten to know the HA heroes "better" than the auxiliary cast of MP100. No, no, the Body Improvement Club is great. They're all bros. But we didn't get to know them as well as, say, Teruki or Dimple. Or Reigan, who's pretty much the best character. OPM has had a better "spread", but MP100 focuses more on some individuals more than others.
And ignoring all the kids who keep calling ONE the god of writing, he doesn't actually always keep the humor up. Early-Mid MP100 was a lot funnier than current, end-game MP100. I'd say it peaked in terms of humor at the end of the first CLAW arc after everybody was rescued. There have been a few laughs since then, but MP100 started focusing more on its themes of relating with others in society than it did on the comedy. I feel the same way with the last few updates in OPM's webcomic. It got some laughs from me, but not big ones. It'll be Murata's art that will carry these scenes through once he gets to redrawing them.
All in all, if we're already at the end of MP100, I'd say it wasn't a bad run. It certainly didn't turn to shit and I appreciate how it conveyed its messages (as "generic" as they are) through showing the development of Mob and the other major characters of the cast.
