Do you guys not have cicadas where you live or something? Worst thing about them is when they fly into your house at night and make a fucking racket until you either kill it or catch it and throw it outside.

Junebugs are worse than cicadas, though. At least cicadas don't mindlessly fly everyfuckingwhere at all hours of the day, banging on your window at all hours of the night, hitting you in the face when you try to ride your bicycle, and sneak into your house any second you open the door at night and then proceed to bang their faces against the nearest lightsource until they die.

Pumpkin bugs/stinkbugs are the worst, they fucking exploded in NC and now it's next to impossible to keep them out of your house in the rural areas. I've come to accept it, I'll usually have a stinkbug land on my face when I'm laying in bed every night because the light from my phone. And they're fucking indestructible, you can flick them as hard as you possibly can and they always recover. You have to flush them or throw them out.
Junebugs are pretty bad, especially if you have to mow the lawn, they hit you and stick to you. Also they make riding a four wheeler outright dangerous, those fuckers are hard and if you hit one going 30+ mph you stand to risk damaging your eye. When I was a kid I used to tie floss to their legs and fly them like kites.
Cicadas are fine though, they're harmless and make the woods less scary at night because they keep everything from being quiet and spooky.

I heard that they were introduced to feed off of the kudzu beetles, not sure if it's true or not but I can say I haven't seen nearly as many kudzu beetles as I did 5 or so years ago. Those were annoying too because they were attracted to the color white so they always swarmed my car. I was fine with the stinkbugs until I found one inside the receiver of my AK, after that I declared war.

One of the weirdest things that ever happened to me involved Cicadas. I was walking back home at 1 in the morning, and all the streetlignts were out bar this cluster of three right at the corner. And they were covered in hundreds of cicadas, chirping away like it was still daylight. It was so loud you could hear them from a mile away. That's always got to me, though I don't know why.
