Several are really good in their niches, but I don't know if any one show stands out beyond that. Rakigo is a really good serious personal drama, but it'll bore the pants off anyone not looking for that. Konosuba is a great fantasy comedy, but it's also pretty dumb. Active Raid is a lot of fun, but way too toku for most of /a/.

Thats not Haruhi

>>
>>137402768
A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B

I honestly couldn't give less of a shit about Kayo or Airi, but the story (at least in the manga) is really making no sense at this point with plot twists for shock value. Add to the fact that the anime only got through about 1/4 of the series with only 5 episodes and you have a pacing nightmare.

The second thing mostly has to do with a "plot twist" later on which sinks the Kayo ship because Satoru gets "NTR" treatment
>>
>>137402768
I only watched the first episode and the pacing was complete shit, so I don't know if the anime is falling apart, the thing for me is that the manga is complete shit now so the anime won't be really good once it's finished
>>
>>137402768
>mystery
Can we stop this? The culprit is so fucking obvious it's not even entertaining
>>
Schwarzesmarken.
It's so much fun, especially when you are German.
>>
Konosuba, cuz the seiyuus brought their fucking A game.

>>
>>137402910
>and also Kyoani never managed to produce anything above average
You've got that backward sempai
>>
>>137402990
Which is why I'm guessing people are hopping on the Kayo train. Otherwise, people would actually focus on the murderer who sticks out like a sore thumb

>>137402952
Manga is shit for me for a number of reasons. NTR, shitty ending, just overall bad plot twists, and no explanation ever given for his time traveling ability
>>
>>137395203
>>137395404
Agreed. Boku Dake is still entertaining but it's starting to feel a bit silly in comparison.
>>
>>137403063
>backwards
>nothing below average was ever produced by kyoani
In all seriousness, I love their art style. On a side note, who animated Hanasaku Iroha? I know its not Kyoani but the style was really comforting.
>>
>>137402923

I did think the Kayo relationship was good, but I'm not much of a shipperfag so I wasn't really effected when she showed up with Hiromi's kid. I do think Ahri's potential relationship would be more fulfilling, especially with the way the manga is going.

>>137402990
I sincerely hope you are an anime-only fag. Also, it isn't who the culprit is that is important, it is how the MC will encounter him and overcome him which is the story is about. It might not be a mystery for us, as the observer, but it a mystery for the protag
>>
>>137396435
Art style reminds me of Etotama, except this is just a fraction of a hair more derpy.
>>
>>137403122
I do agree that the Kayo relationship was good and people move on. I just think that it might've been better if it was someone like Kenya who we actually learned a bit about. As for Airi, I'm pretty sure the recent chapters are pointing at her being the daughter of the teacher/murderer so yeah that should be really interesting

That being said, I feel bad for any Kayofags out there. It seems like the manga and the anime are putting emphasis on different characters with the manga really Airi/Satoru based while the anime is pretty much Satoru/Kayo based
>>
>>137396435
Someone likes this show?
>>
>>137403268
>>137396435
I've only seen this gif and I can already tell it's moeshit
>>
>>137403214
I highly doubt that theory. I do think Hiromi being with Kayo instead of Kenya was a bit weird, but I guess it fits into the narrative the author wants to have with this new timeline being complete without him, and a family that didn't exist before exists now. I'm liking the anime's slight changes to the story, and feel that it makes it smoother, so maybe there might be some variation from the manga in some regards of how Kayo is handled in the newest timeline
>>
>>137401477
The OP is my favorite of the season. And there are a lot of good OPs and EDs this season.

I don't know how true this source is but it does say that there are going to be changes to the anime version, specifically with how they're handling Kayo.

To be honest, Kayo is kind of secondary to the plot and I feel like at least shifting whether or not she ends up with Satoru or someone else at all really doesn't affect the plot that much since.

I can post a translation of said image if you want, though like I said, we still need a source but it did come from somewhat reputatble leaker from 2chan

>>137403445
Yeah, I do think Kayo, in the chapters that are scanlated so far, has almost no role in the story, which I don't really like. Hopefully the anime gives her a bigger role, but I'm not sure what it will be at this point. I do think that shifting an entire romance from Hiromi to Satoru is quite a leap though. Again, I'd rather it be with Kenya or her being single, but I think the image with Kayo with the baby in her hand was quite important to Satoru's development.

I'd also like the translation image if you can.
>>
>>137403610
Yeah, I definitely think the scene is fine as is, just with a little more development. Let me fit this shit into a single post though. Can't really spoiler it I guess.

Translation:

according to this interview that we still have yet to get a proper source on, the director is specifically "writing out" Airi from the anime to focus on Kayo, stating that the manga and the anime are going to be different. One major change is that the recent Airi reunion scene where he gets his memories back is going to be replaced Kayo. Which means he might remove the NTR?

And now for the "not so big" changes

>The anime is more focused on the past heroine Kayo
>Satoru reason for remembering the past is going to be Kayo
>For this reason, the anime has a larger focus on Kayo
>There's going to be a Kayo scene so dere that it will make the viewers think Kayo is an "easy" girl
>Satoru and Airi's relationship is going to be changed to a Teacher and Student relationship
>The manga might have two heroines but the anime is about Kayo

So here we have it. Depends on whether or not this actually gets changed. More likely than not she'll probably be single
>>
>>137403532
Does this image make you happy
>>
>>137403122
Even if the culprit is obvious, Satoru still has to prove that he's the murderer without letting any of his classmates die. He'll have no way of convincing anyone else what the murderer will attempt if all of the evidence lies in the future.

In terms of overall quality and enjoyment? Rakugo. The execution of it is absolutely top fucking tier, music direction animation.

Take last episode. It was apparently 75% anime original, but it was so fucking well done that it blended in seamlessly with the original story. Whoever is on that staff and directing the show just became my favorite.

Other shows I am also seriously enjoying:
Boku Dake
Grimgar
All of the shorts
Dagashi Kashi for unwinding and silly comedy
Kono Suba to that regard too.

To be honest, for a winter season, I have to say it's pretty good.

I don't think that will be bad at all. I wasn't really a big fan of a 29 year old guy being with Airi in the first place. Those are going to be pretty large changes though, like ~3 chapters + worth of material with need to be rewritten, with a lot of little things in future chapters. Makes me more excited for the anime release (and season 2, maybe even 3 with the current pacing).
>>
>>137403938
I'm not so sure if they're doing season 2 or 3, are they? It would make a lot of sense and there is a potential that they'll change a lot of plot points between that.

But yeah, in general, the plan was to cut approximately almost a whole volume since it would've been redundant.

That being said, be careful where you try to talk about this. I have no clue what triggered Airifags to go crazy and shitpost but it's been happening lately.

Musaigen had a good episode this week. It might've come at the end of a round robin of 'look at all the girls' backstories' and may be the only instance of character development we'll get from it, but it was still good.

No way in hell is it best show of the season, though, and it's a bit rich to shitfling about loli pandering when that's literally the only reason Musaigen has a loli in the first place.

For me it's Grimgar, it's a really comfy, sort of feeling.

Konosuba right after tha. DEEN actually found a way.

I'm still hoping grimgar will pick itself up from this painfully slow beginning and actually gain some traction in regards to explaining shit about the world, monsters, and just generally stop focusing on a fuck boy who died.

Honestly, It's probably the most interesting idea of the season, but the execution has been less than subpar.

Other than that, konosuba is the best comedy. Going to look into rakugo according to this thread's recommendation.

>>
>>137405457
That was an exaggeration, but simply the fact that they kill monsters and the monsters don't poof into experience points and ten gold coins is enough to get me hooked.
Adventure anime as a whole has been saturated with MMO cancer for too long, a series where regular human skill and training is all you have is good shit.
>>
>>137397614
Or you could read his other manga and realize that this murder mystery type shit is exactly what he likes to write. Or read other manga in general and realize the shit about going back in time to repair relationships is actually at least as generic, if not more, than the murder mystery, and far more likely to have been the tacked-on part.
>>
>>137405625
They have weird abilities though. And magic. And skills that you have to speak aloud to use.

>>137405394
Worldbuilding would seem kind of beside the point. As far as I can tell the whole idea is that it's a perfectly generic RPG style fantasy world, but without the game mechanics.
>>
>>137405394
>It's probably the most interesting idea of the season, but the execution has been less than subpar.
It's almost exactly the other way round. "Trapped in a magical MMO-like world" has become a standard anime trope; Grimgar rises above the rest based on its execution of that premise.
>>
>>137405915
Grimgar certainly does not rise up based on it's execution though because it's executed terribly.
