You don't even need to defend Fate/Stay Night to prove how blatantly wrong this is. Katawa Shoujo and Key stuff are both better examples of the common entry level choices.

It is because for better or for worse, Nasu is a very unique writer and Fate/Stay Night is his most in-depth and broadly appealing work. Not only is the premise just plain enjoyable, but with its length it is able to offer an experience that isn't really equivalent to anything else. Chuunibyou content + detailed world building + unique storytelling style + being really really long makes the VN unique and hence memorable (it is subjective whether this adds up to be a good or bad thing in the end).
