Alright so the version I downloaded to watch ages ago is kinda shit with broken signs subs.
I like the dub a lot, it's janky but I particularly like original Rei and Gendo. Shinji and Misato are constants in all versions but the other voices seem to vary quite a bit.
So I'm looking for a version with the original dubbed voices. Is the 5.1 mix just remixes of the original performances? Re-recorded? Or completely redone with new actors?
I'd also like to avoid the directors cut episodes because I don't really care for a George Lucased version.
Is the original 2.0 audio the only way?
I've also seen some frames of the japanese title cards being replaced completely. What version is that?
It's all very confusing and I can't find out which version would have these things.

there's a list of dubs on evageeks but it's just not clear whether they have the original voices or redone with other voices, is it only eps 21-24 that were redone? can you get a remastered version with the original 21-24 then? I'm just so confused

Don't watch the dub, not only are the performances bad but the translation is as well, and made people misunderstand certain parts.
