Whenever I read ass class it feels like there's a lack of flow, chapters don't smoothly roll into one another like for example Shokugeki No Soma. Chapters are too often about highschoolers doing random highschooler things instead of actually being about assassination.

It's ok. I don't think it's particularly bad or offensive, but that can be an issue when there's so much other stuff to read out there.
It also resonates much more strongly with nip kids than it ever could with western audiences. The whole underdog Class E thing appeals to Japanese schoolchildren in the same way 'reincarnated-into-game/fantasy-world' media appeals to dried up otaku looking for some wish fulfillment.
