Something neat about the VN is that it already included a pretty extensive glossary for the memes and references made in it. So when translated, this allowed English-speaking audiences to easily understand what was going on without the need to go full leddit on it. Unfortunately such a solution wouldn't be so elegant for an anime, but I'll still take nip memes over ours in this case.
