In fact there was a little grace period where they made a thread each week for the new chapter, which would just die off naturally, and any threads apart from those once a week would be spammed and mods would just delete them because they were full of spam. My first experience with moe was Clannad season 1 and I pretty much disliked it except for the ends of each arc where they go full sad + Sonuhara.. (Tomoyo AU was great though)
Of course there's some gems but there's alot of moe that's just overly fluffy and repetitive. It also doesn't help that japan for the most part has cornball humor

I don't hate it but it's disappointing how seasons are dominated by this safe, often boring trend. Anime should have more diversity now and aim for more demographics but there's little reason for studios to take a risk when the status quo has been the same for so long. Sales are still dominated by series that have long time popularity and history or just appeal to dedicated otakus who are around every season and whatnot.
Just because someone isn't interested in moe doesn't mean they are some teenager obsessed with shonen. It's not as simple and extreme as that.

Moe can be great if there actually is a story behind the art style.
A lot of Anime that are clearly capitalizing on moe are usually just that; capitalizing on moe & forgoing everything else.
I think Sora no Woto is the best example of moe done right. You go into it thinking it's just going to be shit & then out of no where... oh shit, the plot is actually pretty fucking great.
Liking cute things is universal & we tend to want to protect or feel empathy towards them. If you combine that with a story that actually has substance, you can have something worth watching.
IMO I think most people don't necessarily hate moe, they just hate when nothing fucking happens like in Strike Witches. I'm not hating on Strike Witches, but that universe has the potential for some really interesting plots, character arcs, etc. And instead it mostly just functions as a backdrop for character antics where there are no real stakes.
Lastly for example, look at the Strike Witches movie in comparison. When Miyafuji legitimately gets injured it helps sell the danger. Even though you knew she would be fine in the end, when something actually happens to one of the characters you care. I don't give two fucks about Moe-blob#97 in after school tea club.

Even in SnW those are accessory. What really shines in it besides the characters is the world building, which complements the slice of life nicely. The plot only kicks in near the end and the show is great all the way through.
If you liked SnW you could probably enjoy some other good cute girl SoLs too, but not if you go into it "thinking it's just going to be shit" just because they have no plot or are set in school. Just consider placing more value in interesting or funny character dynamics instead.
