err, not really. They were established as fairly durable with great regenerative ablities, and a pronounced weakness(the nape of their necks) early on and the author's stuck to that.
Regenerating creatures not suffering the effects of aging seems pretty standard, while I guess they can have a lack of need for sustenance follow on from that if they want.
Titan shifter's usually cause a blast when they transform. Bertie's titan's that much bigger it just results in a bigger explosion

Quinta was a surviving district of wall Maria who were abandoned by the Government.
Due to panic, anarchy broke out and people did as they pleased with the MP's in charge even using titans to threaten the citizen.
Rita stood up as soldier of the Garrison trying to make Quinta work independently and got rid of the threats.
Well, nobody wanted to listen so they continued on.
Rita then went and became a "tyrant for peace".
Anyone committing the smallest crime gets tortured and killed.
Rita let all MP's be beheaded. Killing and torturing woman and children in public and even executed her father for being criminals who disturbed peace.
This went on for 6 months until someone had the guts to stand up. Rita ordered all to be executed but when it came to the climax, it's pointed out Titans appeared out of seemingly nowhere from the direction of Shiganshina and invaded Quinta. Forced to surrender, everyone left the city and evacuated over the forest of giant trees to Wall Rose. It's an open end, cause Rita surrendered herself to the new Government to pay for her crimes. End doesn't show what happened to her though.
