Honestly, I think most mecha nowadays is fine to mediocre, but people just love to blow it out of proportion, especial with Gundam shitposting. Something like Dai Shogun was easily worse than all the stuff people bring up, and it was fairly recent. Even CL doesn't get shitposted about much now, it's just being rapidly forgotten, because shows like those don't really have fanbases to shitpost at.

It's not that it's a bad thing, but I can see a lot of downsides to Orange monopoliIng the mecha CG scene, since it would mean every mecha actions scenes from then on will be done by the same studio. Think of it like Kyoani animating every moe anime ever and everything will be done in their artstyle. While it's good, things will get stale very quickly
