>I don't know why people like that manga.

I finished it a while ago and enjoyed it but there wasn't anything special there.
The main problem I had with it was that there was no sense of danger or consequences for the majority of story. The hammer in the sky wasn't scary because it never did anything. You need to have the death star destroy a planet for me to care that it might destroy another one.

I read it enterily.
The whole thing with the princess being "evil" and he being his servant was so cringe-worthy, and as I said, the character interaction was dull, unnatural if you would.

I wouldn't say it's bad, because it doesn't have any major asspulls or bad writing per se, I can't say "this event is bad" or anything like that, but to me it felt flat. It doesn't have anything praise-worthy, to me atleast.

Neo-/a/ is a product of today's internet culture. There's nothing subtle, no mid-range. Everything is either amazing or absolute shit. Nothing is merely pleasant.

They fail to grasp the concept or beauty of a simple story done in a solid way. How could they? There isn't insane levels of fanserivce or violence. The writing isn't moronic, nor impenetrable. The art isn't terrible, but it's not detailed or incredibly dynamic.

Like someone who only eats fast food and drinks soda, the more subtle flavors are lost to them.

/a/ used to feel more focused on sharing information, translation, and personal opinions. And with the nature of this website, it gathered so many autists and elitists where they can splerg their non-mainstream opinions they've held in for so long.

But over time, with all the memes and /v/ermins, we got truckloads of newfags that's just starting on anime. They get overwhelmed(but also fascinated) by the hipster attitude and get yelled 'lurk,' 'watch boku no pico,' 'fucking google' until they become part of some hivemind who can't watch a show without reading someone else's thread on it.

It came out of nowhere though. I liked the manga but this was an asspull.

I feel like this story is very "rough" over the edges, like he wanted to do something but was limited by his own abilities as a writer and just couldn't pull them off perfectly. Characters are likeable but also dull if you start to analize them. Animus is probably one of the worst villains I know, he's bad because reasons and then he gets told by a crazy doctor he's supposed to be god so now he's god and destroys stars. OK. I liked the touch about him being reborn as "The Master" though.
Anima is the same, she's very poorly written, just like her brother.

He's doing an amazing job in Spirit Circle though. Overall improvement. If we count Fortuna as the villain just comparing him to Animus will show how much the author has matured as a writer.

How was it an asspull? Babylon only works against humans, and is still Yuuhi's basic power, just turned into a bigger bubble. The qualities to make his power stronger was very simple: he needed a strong body and a strong mind. He spent most of his free time the series doing nothing but dig traps because it helped him think better and it was good exercise. Dude was doing his training arc the entire time and you guys didn't notice it.
>>
>>137225476
He's bad because he's an immature kid with a lot of power that wouldn't grow up while Anima was a kid who couldn't stand to watch her brother turn into something inhuman. The series was literally about growing as person and as subdued their as their onscreen growth may have been, both of them were still fleshed out well enough to be sympathetic characters.

I felt FMA fell apart a bit near the end, but that's just because I consider the first ten or so volumes to be legitimately 10/10 in terms of storytelling, and everything after that is 8/10.

At the very least I disliked that alfonse is revived and brought back using alchemy itself as a sacrifice. But the bittersweet moment afterwards with hohenheim going back soothed that out a bit.

FMA is praiseworthy because the world is entirely consistent from beginning to end. There's no instant where you feel the author finished an arc and suddenly realized that she needs to materialize a new big bad for the story's sake. Every important element except one or two is introduced or hinted at in the beginning and expands from there to its logical conclusion.

>Being in space would forcefully rip the oxygen from his lungs and boil his blood, killing him quickly.
No it wont.
I have no idea where you get this information from, but several scientific articles explains that the body suffers any major damages from beeing unprotected in space, other than of course radiation.

Its said that a human would probably suffer a burning sensation in the eyes, but the subject would survive in space and would die to lack of oxygen in the brain, not "having your blood boil".

>But death is not instantaneous. For example, one 1965 study by researchers at the Brooks Air Force Base in Texas showed that dogs exposed to near vacuum—one three-hundred-eightieth of atmospheric pressure at sea level—for up to 90 seconds always survived. During their exposure, they were unconscious and paralyzed. Gas expelled from their bowels and stomachs caused simultaneous defecation, projectile vomiting and urination. They suffered massive seizures. Their tongues were often coated in ice and the dogs swelled to resemble "an inflated goatskin bag," the authors wrote. But after slight repressurization the dogs shrank back down, began to breathe, and after 10 to 15 minutes at sea level pressure, they managed to walk, though it took a few more minutes for their apparent blindness to wear off.

Him and Usopp's growth during their arcs have made me always sympathetic to the joke character. Because somehow they always turn out based as fuck.

Sometimes I ask myself why people love this arc so much, but then I realized that this is a sight where preteens convince themselves to like garbage just to earn internet points. The entire arc was the living embodiment of everything wrong with the series, taking a gag character, and giving him a serious moment only to never have it brought up again was a god awful idea for an arc, and over all just a waste of time

As someone who was a fan of that arc, I respect and somewhat agree with your opinion. While I don't think it was a horrible arc, what I do think it that it was an awful idea to introduce Furuichi's power like that and not only resolve his depression issues so quickly by just pushing them to the side, but also just never really bring up his powers again except like once.

Showing us an idea of what Furuichi was actually capable without any intention to build on it was a mistake, since all it did is just make me want to know more about it only to watch him go back to being a complete loser.

And it made me sad to see him be a loser :(
