I really loved berserk when I first watched it several years ago.
I watched the new movies but they were not as good as the series(which itself was far from perfect), because of the 3D art and the missing details.
I started reading the manga but its a bit of a pain compared to watching the anime.
Is there a reading of Berserk?

Probably the first meeting with Griffith and Count refusing to sacrifice his daughter, plus Guts' speech to her afterwards. Eclipse might've been bigger, but this was the moment I fell in love with the manga.

I honestly have no idea. I just hope that she doesn't stop Guts from hunting down Griffith, even though she will totally try to, because Miura has been hinting on that for the last hundred chapters. Guts' whole character arc has been about "are you willing to give up revenge for the people you love?"
And the thing is, we know he will get the revenge, and Griffith does fully deserve this, and if he doesn't get what's coming to him, it would be unclimactic, so Guts is totally not going to live for eternity on the elf island. I just want him to get hurt the least because of it at this point. I also want the whole drama thing with Casca to finally stop, because it's been really overplayed by this point.
I just hope at this point that either Casca will eventually understand him and let him go, or that after Guts makes the choice of staying with Casca, Griffith decides that Elfheim is too much of a threat and attacks it too, like he did Flora, so that the point is dropped after that. The ideal variant would be Casca going full Black Swordsman and Guts having to keep her in check, getting strength to battle the armor from it too.

fun fact: Wazarai Shizuya, author of Blaster Knuckle was a friend of Miura's in highschool. In fact, Miura has stated in one of his interviews that he took Wazarai's personality and used it for one of the main band of the hawk members (can't remember who it was ATM). Blaster Knuckle was also in the same magazine Berserk was getting released in, and putting in such close connections it's my personal opinion that they both inspired each other while writing. In any case, basically every story no matter how shallow or Hacknied could be argued to show negative and positive (and neutral) qualities on any side in at least *some* way if you're pedantic enough, that's not really an argument. In the end one side is the protag, and the other is the antag. If you want to subvert that youed have to take extra effort to make it clear and that the designated protagonist is in the wrong (like in the underground man).
Really, in the end the object level problem is just that it might give innocent young weebs the mistaken impression that nignogs are noble or pleasant to be around, and that can get them in trouble.
