If they still love each other by the time they reunite she will have wasted a large amount of her youth and probably be in debt from student loans, she'll get a job for a year or so until she has a baby. Maybe return to work at some point until she has another and then become a housewife.
Of course it's more likely that they will grow apart over the years. Endings like this might as well just be "As much as we loved each other we decided to go our own separate ways for the sake of our education."
