Aside from the extreme amount of ammo required, they would only work in certain areas. Plus the level of maintenance required and how often you need to preform maintenance on those things would make them a bad choice against a swarm rush

Assuming the BETA attack one point, the objects could hold it until they ran out of ammo or needed maintenance. After that however, it would be over. However, they don't just swarm one area. They swarm multiple areas by the billions. You would need a whole hell of a lot more than two or three objects. Any projectiles that are shot in an arc would be incinerated as well. There is a reason why the only bombs used are pure kinetic and covered in unreasonable amounts of anti-heat plating. Even with that most are still incinerated. At this point we havent even considered the terrain or actually attacking. Since the beta are actually all over the ocean floor id think the Tri core would be fucked without any chance of proper retaliation. I think you seriously underestimate the sheer amount of BETA there are.

I havent looked into the break carrier's shots in detail. im simply saying any shots like mortars would be. So what if it can sink a battleship? We are talking about hour long combat with billions upon billions of these things. Assuming the guns never stopped firing for a second. The object may have a chance. Even then, they dont have the range to defend properly and still cannot attack hives. Imagine you have those two objects defending the US. Now, see the east coast? They will come shoulder to shoulder out of the ocean. The entire coast will be invaded at the same time. It would be just like what happens with MGs. They would shred through so many of them. However, the sheer amount would slowly break through. We are talking billions just waltzing through. Not even giving a shit and using their allies for cover. if you had a wall of objects that could cover each other during reloading and maintenance it would be all good though, but then the beta would just send laser class and that plans bust.

A lot of the failures who don't have enough of TSF aptitude end up being normal infantryman and tank drivers. They basically exist to stall them so the tsfs can do the work.

If you're worried about one of those things punching your tank you don't need reactive armor or sloped armor. since that's protection against projectiles. Light tanks, APC's and armored cars is sufficient protection from the human sized ones.
Point is they could redesign them to have more firepower and speed without any loss of meaningful protection.
