I was thoroughly confused about the last 2 episodes, but after thinking about it for a little bit, I understand it, even though the congratulations ending was silly. I enjoyed EoE much more as an ending to the original series, the very ending scene had me holding my breath for it's entirety.

Designs of all the characters, Angels and Evangelions were nice. I also enjoyed that it points about how much life kind of sucks, but at the same time running from your problems won't solve anything, even if it causes more trouble down the road.

I remember marathoning NGE+EoE in one day during a weekend. Trying to deconstruct and analyze what I had watched messed me up for a few days until I finally decided to look up 'definitive' answers online in case I missed stuff.

I would rate it 9/10, the last anime I really genuinely enjoyed as much as Evangelion was Cowboy Bebop, but I also enjoy the Ghibli movies, Akira and from what I've seen of it, Fullmetal Alchemist. As I mentioned on a previous post, I go on and off with anime.

I just finished watching Evangelion today too, OP. I thought it was alright, nothing special. I wasn't invested in the main characters at all (the secondary ones were much more interesting to me), so it was hard getting through the final episodes and EoE. I just didn't care anymore, I got the sense that the show had just turned into the rambling of a depressed guy, repeating the same things over and over.

I related to Shinji in the sense that I kept on thinking "Oh god this is what I was like when I was 14, wasn't it." To be honest, I liked how the show ended. The congratulations scene was cheesy but it felt right to me, mostly because I was feeling it was about time Shinji had that realization, and I felt like congratulating him too for maturing a bit. EoE didn't make much of an impact on me, mostly because I realized that I already knew how it ended thanks to internet memes. Oh well.Misato is best girl, by the way
