How long do you think it'll take before people get so skilled in 3d modelling that it becomes indistinguishable from traditional 2d animation?
>>
>>137169299
Live2d is somewhat pushing those borders. It works as a series of still images layered on top of one another like a flash puppet mised with 3d elements instead of a straight 3d model
>>
Never.
>>
>>137169299
It's worth money
>>
>>137169299
Now, I haven't seen any bitching about Luck & Logic CG.

Will never ever happen.

Guilty gear does a lot of really smart stuff to make their 3d look very close to 2d.
Including animating every frame by hand instead of blending the keyframes.

Now, animations studios use 3d to cut costs. It's not cost-efficient to animate a 3d model frame by frame. So they animate them like they normally would in other media, using automatic blending between terminal positions. And then they limit the framerate to emulate traditional animation, so the result looks weird, and choppy as fuck.

So to answer your question, OP - when studios will stop being jews, so never.
>>
Why the japs need to do is get out of the mindset of trying to make it look indistinguishable from 2d. Some 60fps high budget full 3D scenes are actually pretty cool to watch. The 10fps cg shit with 2d faces needs to die

I would be happy with ordinary 24 fps at this point. Look at Akira. It was drawn at 24 frames. Looks miles better than a lot of modern stuff.
But no, it's expensive. And anime is a business first, artistic endeavor second.
>>
>>137169903
>And anime is a business first, artistic endeavor second.
Dude, average Disney old movies were drawn for years.
>>
>>137170043
Disney was originally passion by the time they went full Jew they had the money needed to spend big
>>
Guilty Gears style of animation will never work in anything except Guilty Gear. It works because they barely use any animation at all. In fights it's just hard cuts between key frames with no actual animation inbetween. In cutscenes there is no detail in the environment and all the characters stand almost perfectly still.
>>
The new Precure's ending is incredible. It is almost indistinguishable, it's scary.
>>
>>137171098
that works in all animes
>>
The hitman game trailer and final fantasy advent children was 3d and those looks great.
>>
>>137171230
Those aren't anime.
>>
>>137171230
Those were the results of having a ton of money to dump on CG animation, and neither were attempting to imitate 2D.
>>
>>137170043
Disney also had a standard of quality (which it still has, Pixar and Disney 3D stuff are hand-animated even though they're 3D). They would put as much work as was needed to perfect the animation, and they still do. Given, Disney is about making money too, but they try to uphold their quality standard so that the brand isn't damaged.
>>
>>137169299
That's not the limiting factor. 2D animation is dirt cheap, while 3D animation needs computer rendering which is expensive. Most anime studios are dirt poor and rarely have more than like 30 employees. Even giant successes like Studio Pierrot work like sweatshops.
>>
>>137171230
>advent children
Except it wasn't going for a full 2D effect and more realism. Not only that, it was just supposed to be a movie. The remake is going for even more realism with plenty of effort towards skin imperfections which wasn't that high in the initial film but can be seen on close ups of Cloud.

As bishie as Nomura makes his men, I've seen more and more efforts to give them "human" flaws.
>>
>>137171390
What? I've heard from others claiming the opposite.
>>
>>137171420
Yeah like Cloud looking like he's about to die

Which is accurate
>>
Probably a long time. I know that Xrd is supposed to look 2D, but honestly I don't know what drugs people are consuming.
>>
>>137172308
>Xrd
What is that?
>>
I don't know, but I want people to stop doing HD sprites in 2D games. Imagine Metal Slug with vectorized sprites. That's how shit I think the new BlazBlue looks
>>

Guilty Gear Xrd. OP's picture
>>
>>137172433

>>137169299
Arpeggio of blue steel comes quite close.
But the main problem is money sometimes.

Fuck that. I just want straight up 3D animation from Japan.

Guilty Gear is an anime with a fighting game minigame hidden in between.
>>
>>137172496
Arpeggio animation is fucking ass.

Even Black Rock Shooter was better.

>>137169299
What makes you think it's a matter of skill?

You mean retarded choices that only makes it look worse?
Wanting to limit the framerate of 3D so much is the worst idea Japan ever had.

The future for anime is digital 2D animation. It's only a matter of time before digital drawings and automated inbetweens are the standard.
>>
>>137169739
Thanks for the video, looks interesting.
>>
>>137169482
It's ok, but it's still not as good as mecha CGs in anime, and I don't just mean Studio Orange too either. Bubuki Buranki for example
>>
>>137169513
Please lulu, some people couldn't even tell which part is CG in dimension W until it was pointed out to them

In hentai world, it happened

I guess it will eventually come to that, but then there will always be some hand drawing.

I watch anime for the plot.
So 3D is fine as long as it is watchable.
>>
>>137177163
There's CG in Dimension W? Where?
>>
>>137172848
Framerate of Guilty Gear was limited for gameplay purposes to emulate the speed of 2D gameplay.
>>
>>137169299
With the way animation is crappy these days,i'm hoping soon.
>>
>>137177597
That shit is not fucking 3D animation, it's 2D sprites with jiggle applied using this one program.

Fuck you can make the same shit with the xxCake program.

Not to mention that shit looks fucking retarded, I hate it when people post that shit and say it's 3D.
>>
>>137180028
I hope you're watching Ajin then
A few moments very early on are extremely awkward but other than that it's not too bad
>>
>>137169299
3D IS CHEAPER
>>
It's not the modeling that's the problem. It's the 3D animation that's the problem. It's supposed to be choppy like 2D animation, but it never is, so it looks stupid and out of place.

If they rendered it on a Pentium 3, recorded it, then sped it up a bit, I'd bet it'd be much closer to 2D animation.
>>
>>137171144
it's pretty good, but I wouldn't call it indistinguishable
