They are in the minority, but they glossing over them is more interresting than your avergae new Anime season.
Especially old shows have alot of anime that goes beyond 26 episodes but still have an end, unlike Anime like One Piece, Conan, Naruto and Fairy Tail.
Sure alot of times they are flatter and more melodramatic, but unlike Code Geass or even Neon Genesis Evangelion they target are much broader audience.
