It really sucks that the author is so spineless and unwilling to commit to any kind of direction, always playing it safe. He might not have intended it, but from the character's introduced in the first season/few novels, Char gets the lion's share of focus, the least tumultuous relationship and the most coherent chemistry with Ichika.
And upon realising this, a writer with some integrity might have just shrugged their shoulders and rolled with it (ala Rumiko Takahashi) rather than do what he did, which was apparently panic and try to knock her in line with the rest of the cast so he could go through the list of played out harem scenarios in order from the top.
He doesn't even have the wherewithal to even commit to a lazy default girl end, much less an outside victory.

His major assblasting came from him throwing a fit over his publisher not letting him exercise enough discretion over the rights of his series, which might or might not have been sparked by them publishing a Chinese version of Infinite Stratos in Taiwan without his knowledge. This led to the long-ass hiatus which eventually led to the series being rebooted under a different publisher.
He also throws multiple minor tantrums over shit on Twitter, like people calling him out for acting like an asshole at a random event or for just random dumb shit he does on Twitter. He's also prone to depression and writer's block which he often whined about loudly on Twitter as well. He's also a huge buyfag as mentioned already.
He also started multiple other projects which all failed spectacularly, like Kimi-P and Houkago Battlefield. So as much as he probably hates IS now he's stuck with the series forever because he'll never strike gold twice.
