It was enjoyable and self contained. What's more to ask.
It was pretty good for what it was.
The feeling of adventure it had in the first half is pretty rare in anime these days and the likeable characters still carried it through the second half.

Likeable characters always are at least enjoyable even if they are not amazingly written. That doesn't mean an unlikeable character can't be enjoyable either though.
It's not necessarily as easy to write a likeable character as it is to write a mary-sue or a pathetic asshole anyway since you at least have to keep a certain balance,
In any case it's legit to say you enjoyed a show because of the likeable characters making them at least "good" in the sense that they helped the show fulfil its purpose of entertainment.

In terms of the story? Yes, it was good, but something can still be good and remain having untapped potential. That can be discussed as well, I honestly think it does, the adventure feel of the first few episodes went to the shitter in the second half, around the time they were in the castle it seems it just ran out of steam.

Came in expecting absolutely nothing, what's to expect of a mobile card game adaptation. Watched it mostly because of the staff. But it was fantastic, loved it through and through. Never failed to keep me at the edge of my seat. Real shame it's mostly an underrated series.
I think they managed to close on a high note with just the right amount of closure for a satisfying ending and enough open threads for a continuation.
For the most part things people had an issue with came from executive meddling and cygames' requests to have certain characters included, which in turn messed up the pacing in certain parts, overall though it's still just a minor flaw. This isn't a flawless show, it's a good show with problems.
Hope season two keeps the MCs. It would be a bold move to have a cast consist largely out of cripples.

It reminded me more of the 2003 Sinbad movie. It has similar themes going on like betrayal, demons meddling with the main cast, more focus on the journey, male MCs having similar dynamic and the lead female being somewhat strong and the motivator of the journey.
