God, the final episodes are terrible.
At first I thought Zeta had all the potential to be better than original Gundam in every field. Later I came to realize that while it is theoretically better, fun factor is quite similar. Still, I was very pleased with that. However in later part of the series the episodes had more and more annoying segments, to the point where I'm almost fed up after ep 49.
Hopefully Tomino delivers in final episode, I never considered Zeta could crash so hard toward the end.

The anime won't have a conclusive ending as the manga is still ongoing. The OVAs will probably end withPsycho Zaku and FA gundam KOing each other, Zeon forces arriving to sweep up the survivors of the battle (Pretty much every ship got destroyed except on zeon one barely hanging on that the EFF survivors take over), and the EF main fleet moving through the shoal zone since that was the real purpose of the operation and the whole "Cut off the supply line" thing was just a cover.

The manga is an alternate retelling of the original series with tweaks and changes to pretty much everything as well as lots of added background to the war and some of the characters told through flashbacks primarily from Char and Sayla's points of view. It's a great series and well worth a read.
