It's okay to put out a shitty show and still be successful and popular if you're Aniplex. See Aldnoah.Zero, Charlotte, Saekano etc. You see they understand that otaku care more about the big names than the quality of the show which is why they're almost always sure to sign on some eroge writer with a huge cult following like Maeda or Urobuchi or at the very least a Sawano or Kajiura for music. Other studios try to do things like put out shows with functional plotlines and tolerable characters but neglect the big name factor and heavy promotion of their shows not realizing they're working in the anime scene where effort isn't rewarded unless you have the names otaku care about. The most effortful series by some random guy will never be as well received as Jun Maeda not even giving the slightest shit and lying through his teeth about what he plans to do and make up for and that's essentially how anime ended up where it is right now.

Maruto was the author of White Album 2 which was extremely well received when it came out and considered a God game for what little that's worth. Both are still pretty much literal who's beyond that even now and I still kind of refuse to believe Saekano is anywhere even close to as big a deal or masterpiece series as A-1 has been trying to make it seem in the wake of it's first season. They're just doing literally everything they can publicity stunt wise to get it in the news and advertise the fuck out of the upcoming second season because that's what they do. Why this show of all projects is the one they seem to be the most proud of and want to be their new flagship franchise apparently I just can't understand though. All it seems to appeal to are the worst sort of shitflinging waifufag posters and people like you see in the OP image.
