Muay Thai is easily the most effective granted you get a decent coach and you fight people who aren't keeping distance. If you've got someone standing in front of you and you're good at pulling people's heads down and elbowing/kneeing the shit out of them you'll do well unless you're fighting an inside boxer in which case you're getting punched right in the kidneys/solar plexis and going straight down.

I just watched this scene. Her being able to defeat those people in a melee fight is absurd. Soldiers don't get that much training in hand-to-hand combat and melee weapons (let alone melee weapon vs. melee weapon), and warriors in a medieval society don't do anything except hand-to-hand and melee fighting. And they outnumbered her too.
Punching out the prince is plausible enough if he's stupid enough to underestimate her like that, and stand there like an idiot. If they were to actually fight then I don't see how she could stand any chance.
