A girl falls in love with a boy.

Unable to confess, she stalks the man in order to get his phone number. Never minding the strange area code, she immediately calls him, and is overjoyed to find out that he has a crush on her as well.

But, the next day, when she recounts the previous day's confessions to the man, he only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, she finds out that the man she called is not the same man she fell in love with. In fact, he doesn't exist in this universe at all. He is the man's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of his crush.

Hijinks ensue as she strikes up a deal with the man's student to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip her with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves in exchange for her dead sister's diary. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

>Kate-Ai

A Canadian girl falls in love with Japan.

Unable to confess, she is gifted by a deus ex machina with Japan's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, she immediately calls the country, and is overjoyed to find out that Nihon has a crush on her as well.

But, the next day, when she recounts the previous day's confessions to Japan, she gets no response because Japan is a country, not a person. After some investigation, she finds out that the nation she called is not the same nation she fell in love with. In fact, this Japan doesn't exist in her universe at all. This Nihon is the alternate universe counterpart of her crush, who has fallen in love with her AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of his crush.

After finding out, she slammed her fist into ther palm and said, "SOU NAN DES KARR." Hijinks ensue as they strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip each other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of WEEABOO.

Come to think of it is that really what they were called, though? "viral" didn't exist in common vernacular in late 90s either I don't think.

I think they were called crazes, or trends. Like you'd see news reports about the Dancing Baby craze. I don't recall how people described Hamsterdance though.. I guess another craze. I was in like 6th grade when it came out and some kid went and had half the computer lab open it at once. Quite noisy.

When I got here for the first time, about november 2003 (the second time is easier to remember: same year December 24th) I didn't really understood how 4chan worked, much less the memes going around at the time. But I did get that I shouldn't post because of that.
I returned in mid 2004 and been here ever since. I lurked for months, barely posting images until I trully understood what this was.

The entire reason behind lurking was to avoid being ridiculed and shat on by other anons for not understanding how things worked around here. Once the shitposting reached critical mass and newfags stopped being afraid of getting called out and embarrassed, lurking was no longer as important as it was before.

I was on /b/ back in 2004.

Ostensibly because it's full of porn. Only learned about its other activities 3 years later in 2009, at the height of Boxxy shitposting.

Good times.

>>136329047
>Did it have the same meaning as in applied to the whole show or was it character specific or maybe something else?

The guy who said it in Sensei no Ojikan was the otaku character, so yes, "moe(shit)" carried the same meaning as it does now.

The funny thing is that his classmates were wondering if the word was even Japanese.
>>
>>136328989
It wasn't really big a buzzword until Lucky Star though. Even then I think it wasn't until K-on that it started to become ubiquitous, albeit that's really as a backlash from butthurt edgy kids/manimefags because in actuality Lucky Star and K-on were raging popular and fucking swept across 4chan.

Anon, it's okay. I'm here with you! Just remember all us cute girls and you won't have to be afraid.
>>
>>136329843
Good Lord, there's a bit of nostalgia. Did you ever search for 3D on 89.com too?

I've got a question for the true oldfags here. What was it like getting your hands on any doujinshi? Was that even possible back then?
>>
>>136329765
>We'll be streaming Blu-Ray quality video in high speed Internet by the next decade.

And people are going to complain it's all crap, while torrenting lousily made 8K -> 1080p transcodes.
>>
Everytime i see you oldfags talk about vhs tapes and anime clubs, i remember how glad i am that i didn't get into all this weebshit too soon.

But then i look at my backlog...
>>
>>136329897
I went through RealPlayer. I know that feel.
>>
I don't consider myself an oldfag as I have been browsing 4chan since late 2009/early 2010 so I missed a lot of great things on this board such as watching Death Note, Code Geass, TTGL and other things while it aired along with /a/.

The other day I saw a bunch of anons complaining that a certain anime was taking too long to be released, when I started to watch anime (again, not an oldfag) the earliest you could expect a release of your thursday or friday show was 6 to 12 hours, though most of the time subs were out the next day. Crunchyroll, funi or daisuki (this one didn't even exist back then) wasn't that big back then so not every show was subbed by them. I remember downloading HorribleSubs CR rips for The World God Only Knows in late 2010 so those guys were around back then.

I remember I could read and fap to good doujins in Fakku without paying or subscribing to shit.

I was part of the 10bit shitposting mainly because my computer was so shit I needed hardware acceleration to watch 1080p 8bit stuff, my computer couldn't handle 720p+ 10bit anime, I had to upgrade thanks to 10bit.

Reddit wasn't the boogieman, it was Gaia. People lurked more, there was less crossboarders, and if there was they didn't make it as obvious. Each board had their own memes, not like today where you see baneposting everywhere.

Also for some reason people made more original content back then, original images for jokes I mean
>>
>>136329907
It's just going to get more advanced to the point where you'll wonder if you got into weebshit too soon anyway.
>>
>>136329832
If they didn't go kaput after PSG and made more original stuff they possibly still would be a top tier, although it's hard to say really. TTGL gained them a lot of mileage right when they were starting to fade from the spotlight.

It's weird they're still around but adapt little piddly stuff and Trigger has struck off on its own odd somewhat half-assed direction.
>>
>>136329884
The closest I got was getting a whole book of manga some Japanese person left at an airport (not a doujin).

Of course.

I was utterly confused. I did not understand the idea behind doujin, or why Shampoo was getting screwed by several men. Did Rumiko Takahashi draw/allow it? Why? I started to grasp the idea by the 1996 that people drew this kind of porn to indulge themselves.

I can remember my first anime induced boner. It was while watching Ranma, I think it was a certain scene where Ranma became a woman in the bath and you could see her nipples.

Another time was when I was up late at night watching TV, and there was this channel with some dude showing Dragon Ball Z porn, which I think was fanart sent by fans. I remember looking at Buu getting his dick sucked by Android 18, Goku fucking ChiChi. Oh and I also had an erection when Cell absorbed 18. Good times.

I personally just gave up and just ordered the books myself. Those took nearly 2 months to arrive to my backwater tiny town in Bumfuck, Nowhere.

$40 dollars for a lousy 2 episode VHS...
>>
Back in my day, Naruto was just coming out and we watched each episode on YouTube in 3 parts.
Most of us still had dial up, so it took 3 hours to watch One episode.

What a waste of time!!

I said the earliest was 6 to 12 hours, but yeah, if the show wasn't very popular or if the group subbing it was not fast, it would take days.

I have a crazy gunpla collection and thousands in garage kits, yet I never talk to /m/ because they seem to just hate everything and some autist shits on the gunpla threads there all day with mods doing nothing. I don't know what that guy's problem is, /m/ always had gunpla threads and simply shared them with /toy/.

Or rather I used /m/ a bit like, 5+ years ago, and it was a very, very chill place that felt more like a forum because it was so fucking slow. But I didn't mind, because people knew their shit and could give interesting replies.

One thing that I'll definitely miss are high resolution reeditions of old anime. With everything being done digitally, I guess the original quality is final. So it probably won't make much difference if one watches a show when it came out or decades later.
