How many chapters do you guys think Helck should go on before it's over?
I can see it ending at around 100 chapters easily if we're already in the latter end of the middle of the story. I can't see it going over 150 chapters and still retaining its enormously high quality.

I think you're estimating this too lowly.
If it ends at 100 there's no way we'll see things like the northern border or the demon king or anything else, it'll literally turn into a race to the end. Remember that the last fifty chapters of any manga with fighting as a focus are spent nearly entirely on panels with no dialogue showing attacks.
If we expect the mangaka to show us all there is to be shown and do so at a leisurely pace then it could end with 200 chapters and not feel the slightest bit forced. Maybe even more if we take a few trips and see a few character arcs unrelated to the main story.
But at the lowest it needs to be 200 accounting for unexplored story points and the last fifty chapters of boss fighting and wrapping things up.

We've already gotten hints as to the motivations of the King and his posse, and while there may be mysteries beyond their mysteries as to why they're acting in certain ways, I would say they're fairly entrenched in the puzzle that is the plot's narrative and going too far beyond them is asking for trouble, since besides the New World Organisms, there's not much more being foreshadowed to that degree. That said, however...

We've been aware of the mechanism behind photography for a very long time, with the earliest writings of the camera obscura dating around 470 to 390 BC. We just didn't harness it into anything automatic until the late 1820s. In a setting with magic, I would suspect that a camera obscura mechanism could be developed, though it'd be somewhat anachronistic.

This is a very interesting theory, because the fact that the human king's neck cascades into a bizarre cylinder and he has no visible arms has always stuck out like a sore thumb to me. The author's definitely playing with the possibility, where Oersted also becamefueled by a pitch black power of hatred that could mutate him into a boss monster and keep him alive after his body gave out. That summary's a bit off on Alicia, though. She was manipulated and turned against Oersted, which is technically closer to what's happening in Helck. Kind of like how Uranus sacrificed himself so he could escape while attacked by humans. And it comes down to Oersted trying to rescue Alicia alone and being too late. And how Hash was a big, beefy, older, stronger hero who came to resent humanity.
It's chock full of homages but the events and characters aren't playing out the same.

He's that guy who's mysterious until you learn more.
He doesn't act like a villain so he could have an understandable motive or lack of choice. But he's used that seemingly not-evil appearance to manipulate children and betray friends. He's designed to go either way and catch you off guard. The mystery is there so you don't see it coming when it happens.
