This show was surprisingly enjoyable. Disappointed I dropped it when Kaitou did and missed out on the threads. It had some awkward scenes at times, ps1 CG, and suffered from some one-note characters but overall I thought it was pretty great. It's even got a second season coming and a game, anyone else excited? How was it received during it's airing? I'm sure a lot of people made fun of it.

It had a prime time TV slot--I don't think BD sales were the goal but it was around 3/4k. Ended up with a lot of boosted sales for Arakawa's manga too, so I guess it worked out.
The threads were pretty decent despite not lasting too long or having all that much activity. Looking forward to S2 though.

The second season and game come out sometime this year. There's a demo out for the game now, I've downloaded it but have not played it and haven't heard if it's good or not either.

I watched this last week, my thoughts were that it was a massive waste of good funding for what was simply a terrible script.
The plot wasn't just unoriginal and boring but it had the depth of what you might expect a child to come up with. It tries to portray deep tactical intelligence multiple times during the show but when you really think about it, none of it makes any sense. For instance when he decides to march his army to fight the war in the other kingdom, it was ridiculous.
I hope I get to see some of the spoilers I got through the threads animated so yea kinda hyped

No I mean that Funimation ruins things the more they touch them so you can't trust them to downscale anything, even if the show is produced at 720p. You can fix the colors through either the player or graphics card settings I think, although mine just werks.

The anime adaptations a bit rubbish
The manga is better, but in general Arslan has a different tone from LOGH, which is only natural considering it's like 25% a fantasy story where people get into sword fights in the desert instead of sitting on the bridge of a capital ship taking pot shots at the other guys across the void of space

Shoujo manga doesn't have much fucking as you think, it's mostly all josei.
Seinen is the men's equivalent of the Josei demographic, yet we get substantially less fucking.
Going on a journey and fucking under the stars seems like a realistic thing when you could die literally any day.

Not a big fan of how their editors work.
So basically people don't like the show because of the character designs and because they can't understand the keikaku of Narsus. That's what I've gathered from this thread.
I fucking loved it when it was airing couldn't get enough of it, All of the characters were great and the story was too.
I really can't wait for S2 one of my favorite shows from last year.

I don't hate the anime, but...
A lot of characterization is skipped out on for the sake of covering a certain amount of the story in the episode alottment they had. I understand wanting to choose a good point to end the story at, considering they would run out of manga material to adapt, but as it stands it's not a great adaptation of either the manga or the novels.
The production values are a bit rubbish. I realize animating an old time anime with armies of dudes running around on horseback and shit is hard, but that's no excuse for doing a half assed job.
A big part of Arakawa's take on Arslan in the manga is that it humanizes everyone in that way she has, but a lot of that is lost with the anime, so instead you get a bunch of flat portraits of the characters like you would see in a middling video game adaptation instead.

I liked it, the threads were full of anons becoming gay for denka. That was a plus, but overall it was a solid 8/10
I enjoyed the show but it was pretty annoying how it felt that Arslan had pretty much everything handed to him since his allies were OP as fuck. Farangis walking out in the center of an arrow bombardment and not getting hit because of literal plot armor was pretty bullshit.
