Japan has microwaves, ovens, and toasters combined. They are quite common and really useful. I wish we had these in the west.

An oven that has a fan next to the heating element, which circulates the hot air. Instead of conventional ovens that rely on the normal radiation of heat.

In general they can cook things slightly faster than a conventional oven, but some baked goods won't come out right.

I think they're more commonly called "convection microwaves" here; you'll notice them to have a higher base price than standard microwaves; you can bake things in them.

I think they're more popular elsewhere because here (America anyways) space is at less of a premium so everyone has an actual oven instead of needing it a peripheral on a different more compact kitchen appliance. IDK though, that's just my guess, maybe it was a translation fuckup, you can make pizza or whatever in a standard microwave if you really want to anyways.

I don't know the details, but there was some sort of agreement between the Board of Education and a property owner whereby I paid a leasing agency 43,000 yen (about $475 in 2012) for rent there every month. It was a smallish town, and I don't imagine that rent elsewhere was much higher. The killer was utilities. Japanese houses have practically no insulation in the walls and cold air just pours off the windows in the winter, so you're running electric heaters constantly. With the inefficiency of electric heat combined with electric costs in Japan, I was paying up to $250/mo. in the winter for my electric bill.

The bathroom actually wasn't that small. Compare the shower area to a typical stand-up enclosed shower in an American bathroom and it had maybe 4-5 times the floorspace. I could sit on the floor with my legs out straight. The bathtub was small, but it was deep enough that I could fully submerge myself in it, and I'm 5'11" and of average build.

I really makes me laugh, though, when I see anime with 2-3 Japanese girls plus their father fitting into a bathtub with ease. Some houses have larger bathtubs (most are a little larger than mine was), but there's a lot of exaggeration in anime bathrooms.

If im dying with 22°C and the cold i have in bed i cant imagine what would be like to be with a cold, literally sleeping in the floor on a house with no insulation.

I thought that was most European countries (World Wars), but they had the good taste to rebuild the same building.
As for the US, Internet statistics say they're falling behind because they need to change their old infrastructure in most parts of the country.

The end of the war was basically us using complete air superiority to casually fire bomb them in an effort to make them give up. Since they had to rebuild all their major cities anyway they were able to give the new ones much better infrastructure for the modern era.

A block down from that was a ramen place. Actually, on practically every corner within line of sight was a pretty neat place to eat Japanese food. A 45 minute ride on the local train brought me to a large city with a Mandarake and a movie theater that would currently be screening Kizumonogatari for general audiences. Can the same be said of trailer parks?

I currently live in a fairly poorish part of the southwest US. 200k here will get you a pretty average 3 bedroom 2 bath house with a garage+decent front and back yards.

Where I used to live in Southern California, the same house would be 450k minimum. Up to twice that depending on location.

It's like that everywhere, even between states in the US. It's just the way consent laws are made. They make them with the intent of keeping adults from sexing children. From that perspective they're just preventing people from traveling to other countries just to fuck underage people. If that weren't the case some shithole country could just remove their laws completely and start rolling in pedobux from sex tourism.

But the way consent laws function is by telling people under an arbitrary age that they're not smart enough to know whether or not they want sex and taking away their right to consent to protect them. So from that perspective it's like saying that it takes more maturity to decide whether or not you should have sex with a foreigner than with a local.

Since anon was traveling then they would be subject to the clauses about international relations, which typically require both parties to be 18. If you want to fuck a 13 year old legally then you'll need to actually move to the place and become a citizen.

That's how it already is in Thailand, they're quite proud of their sex tourism there. So the only people for whom it's illegal are people who live in a country that bans its patriots from sex tourism abroad.
>>
>>136329885
You can't go to prison for pedophilia, that would be thoughtcrime. You go to prison for rape.

>>136330193
Probably not the way you're implying, but playing with the idea of who is and isn't fit to consent is being used to expand the definition of rape. It's mostly girls who regret it the day after and claim rape as some kind of social out. One of the big arguments that's being accepted is that being intoxicated can make you unfit to consent as you have impaired faculties at the time, meaning all those sluts who whore it up at parties aren't actually at fault because their decision to get shitfaced absolves them of any responsibility for their actions. Thanks to rape laws and public opinion being biased towards women in this regard, it basically means that it's a man's responsibility to make sure a girl is completely legally competent before making a move.
>>
>>136330389
>You can't go to prison for pedophilia, that would be thoughtcrime. You go to prison for rape.
If you have sex with an underage girl, it's statutory rape.
>>
>>136330480
Exactly. You're going to prison for having sex with someone without their consent, since they are legally unable to give consent. You're going to prison for an action, not for having a certain fetish.

A student should understand professional and casual English, with the emphasis dependent on the individual student's goals. Adhering to a prescriptive set of standards is not only unproductive, it can hinder the student's ability to function at an ideal level in English-speaking communities. To suggest otherwise indicates ignorance in the study of the language, of its pedagogy, and that you're a faggot.
