I went there last summer, there's a bus on that street that can take you through that part of the town only for 60 cents.

Here's the fountain where Kanata played with the cat. Some of the locations they choose really stand out, others are blended in quite nicely that you can easily miss them if you don't have a keen eye.

I wonder what it's like to watch anime and recognize at least half the places. Maybe it would break the immersion of being in a world of fiction, make it feal real, and make it feel like cringe-worthy chuunibyou shit. Now I don't feel like going to japan.

It's not bad. I expected it to be nothing like anime, and was actually struck at how much everything looked exactly like it does in anime, from the way normal buildings are built to the vending machines on corners to the fact that there really are random shrines tucked in between big commercial buildings and stuff like that.

>>136253418
I doubt it's that bad. I'm from a part of LA where they do a ton of filming, and when I see locations I recognize, it's more of a "oh, cool, I know that place!" thing than anything. It's only immersion-breaking if it's a show that's supposed to take place somewhere else and I recognize a spot.

When I've seen locations in anime that I've been to in Japan, I just think it's cool.

The only grounds for a suit for stuff like this in the US are if you can prove that it negatively impacted you financially. If a movie used a shot of your house without your permission, and portrayed it as the home of a serial killer or something and caused your property value to tank or caused weird fans to come annoy you all the time, you'd have a case, but that's an extreme case.

>>136254790
A lot of Tokyo is either solid commercial or residential. The commercial office districts empty out, just like many other places around the world (La Defense in Paris, Downtown LA, etc.) and nobody's out and about in the residential areas, either they're already home or they're out at bars with coworkers or whatever.

Shopping and dining areas are pretty active until late, though.

I don't know. Probably because they go home or go to bars to get drunk. Most smaller businesses are closed by 6 or 7.

It's not like it's totally abandoned, but it's not hard to find an empty park. Case in point, the top picture is the main gate into Sensoji at about 1:30 pm, the the bottom one is the same place at about 6:45 pm.

That was an absolute fucking joke, shitloads of mangaka like Oku Hiroya, Hanzawa Kengo and Boichi copy photos outright as part of their style; and all mangaka (except maybe One) use photo's as reference.
I suppose the only difference was, Higashiyama didn't own the reference photo's rights, but that's hardly a scandal.

After Japan lost the war and the Allies were in control for a while, the education system was altered to more closely resemble America's. This required the construction of new school buildings, because the old buildings* were not up to snuff, so a lot of new buildings had to be built in a short span of time.
