The death episode was fucking gorgeous, it's insane how well the show can switch gears tonally. Like, you go from great comedy episodes to more sentimental ones to a visual poem about death, and it all works so well. Very few shows can pull that kinda thing off.
Definitely my pick for best 2014 tv show, which is high fucking praise for a year with Yuasa and Mushishi, not to mention Shirobako as well. The way it brought together a ton of varied, talented people and let them get creative is inspiring.

this is watanabe's best recent work without a doubt. i try to squeeze it into my top ten but struggle to put it above shows like kaiba, renmei, and lain. i do think dandy deserves some deeper analysis and more appreciation, because there is a lot of thought provoking philosophy wrapped up inside of the adventures.

Great anime. Some people were turned off by the approach they took (different directors and styles every episode) but I thought it fit perfectly with the theme and made for some really fun and creative bits. Season 2 episode 18 is my favorite. Best soundtrack in recent memory still too.

I really want to like the race episode but I can't, apart for a few moments, the race part lacks excitement, it looks too static (though we can't really blame them for that, considering it's an already too ambitious 26 épisodes series).
Space Dandy was great, baby. Some gave it a hard time because it aired in the west as well as nippon, but it's more engaging and visually interesting than anything from last year.
