It's called art evolution, smart guy. The early stuff looks pretty bad but Hirano's vast improvement over the course of the manga is undeniable. For reference, the ova's copy his later style almost identically, and even fail to capture the impact that some scenes had in the manga due to the level detail and style he put into it. The writing leaves a bit to be desired but you can't say Hirano wasn't able to convey the spirit of Hellsing through his artwork, in that regard he did a fantastic job.

But their limbs weren't gangly and their heads weren't too small for their bodies and their arms and legs weren't facing the wrong way. That is what happened in the art for Parts 1 and 2 of JJBA. Similarly, I love Mignola Hellboy for its high contrast shots. Makes it look moody and amazing even though it's low detail.
