As of late it's become really forced implied as well, despite all the bait chapters where EH simply talked. EH is forsaken to never happen, it was a friendship and that's it. I'll have you know that Isayama has never confirmed they see each-other as siblings and that it is more then likely that they see each-other as potential soulmates if not a source of safety and comfort. One cannot continue on without the other and it is unlikely that EM will not be endgame. In fact I'm willing to bet that it will happen soon and within the coming chapters, hence the heavy hinting in such scenes as the one where she gave him her cloak.

I hope both of them survive because there's more to see about their characters. Their past, the way they dealt with the guilt, Marcel, what happened to Ymir and so on. There aren't as many open plot threads with Reiner, but he said he promised to Ymir to save Historia so he might stick around for a while.
My only fear is that usually confidence bursts are deathflags, especially in SnK. Most characters that died usually died after saying "we can do it!" or something similar. I hope that's not the case for Bert.

Eren's relationships in comparison to Mankasa
Mankasa tells Eren to give up on his dream, the fact he will die without her around. What happens next? Annie learns him to fight, encourages him, despite knowing he is a weakling she continues to teach him her moves which helps him through the entire manga.
Both Eren and Mankasa are surrounded by titans, Eren starts crying, what does Mankasa do? Instead of helping him get back on his feet encouraging him not to give up, standing up and fighting until the end she pathetically starts expressing her feelings as in "We're dead but at least I can express my feelings for you". Eren starts crying in the cave wants to get eaten, what does Historia do? Pulls him back on his feet, gives him courage to continue fighting. Later she saves him despite Manlet agreeing to let Eren get eaten while Mankasa is out of words on the whole situation.
Mankasa pathetically made Eren feel like shit through the entire manga, never ever thought of giving him friendship before deluded love. Something which Armin did, he always supported Eren and his decisions, felt genuinely happy for him and always tried to help him as much as he could.
