Small recomendation, don't watch the fifth movie until you read all the manga, the fifth movie is an adaptation of the final arc of the manga, also is why all the characters act like their manga versions and not like their animated versions.
Also there's a few differences between the way the characters are in the both mediums

As with all Rumiko Takahashi (and CLAMP) series, the anime improved it drastically.
Some authors have good ideas, but poor implementation. In the case of Takahashi, she has one good idea that fills one volume, then pads it out for 40 volumes.
