People consider her a fulfillment for nerds but isn't she quite a casual? Sure she reads manga and plays video games a lot but most things are too mainstream. Compared to extreme otaku she is quite the normie. Not even close to characters like Konata or Keima.

The games she play are pretty mainstream for the most part: Puzzle & Dragon, Youkai Watch, Street Fighter, Pokemon, Monster Hunter, generic MMORPG and COD parodies for example. Also, if the author had really wanted to portray her as a proper otaku we'd have chapters of her browsing 2ch (like many other otaku-centric series such as Densha Otoko, Genshiken, NHK) and bringing home doujinshi (she only asks for Jump, which is another mainstream-tier thing there). Her tastes are pretty much casual, albeit a bit obsessive.
