You can't watch anime without sound, but increased speed is a good idea. I've been wanting to experiment with it myself, and I watched the last few episodes of White Album 2 at higher speed so I could get over with it quicker. But every time I remember my plans, I am watching something I really enjoy, or that is supposed to be a masterpiece, and I don't want to risk messing with that. But in general, watching a bit faster is a good idea. Oh yeah, I sped up one episode of Last Exile so I could watch it in one train ride, the couple of minutes I save lets me watch the OP, and I don't have to stand on the train station with my laptop open to finish the episode.
Another thing, I experimented with it once, was watching two anime at the same time, but for that to work they'd have to be slow paced because switching your attention that quickly is difficult, and they may be going for different emotions which is just confusing.

My problem with reading manga is that I always try to read as fast as possible so I can't enjoy it. Anime forces me to take it slower so I can enjoy it more.
You could watch anime at 1.25 to get it up to 30 fps.
Or you could find a way to do things which your parents don't approve of. By the way, how do they feel about you posting on 4chan?

I do this for older shows with slow pacing and shonen shows. I slow it back down to normal when needed. I could not have finished Legend of the Galactic Heroes without doing this.

The fastest you should watch anime is about 1.2x-1.3x. There are things that fix the sound, so that isn't an issue.
I also skip OP and ED after watching them once.. I'm not one of those people who watch anime just to say I've watched it, nor do I care how many I've watched.
I simply love anime, and it's impossible to watch all of it in my lifetime. I'm not even watching garbage series, but I do watch a lot of mediocre stuff. I wish people would understand more about why some people choose to watch anime in a faster speed.

Yes. I actually love anime, unlike a lot of people on here. I also like most genres. Romance of any kind (aside from striclty yaoi, and even then Prunus Girl was cute), I watch manime, moeshit, everything.
There is so much to watch out there that saving 10-40 minutes each series means a lot.

Why do you live with your parents?
I watch everything at 1.4 and YouTube at 1.25. People have told me I'm just really autistic, but doing this actually ends up saving a lot of time due to how long I spend watching anime everyday. That makes more time for me to continue watching more anime per day.
Again, some call it autism but it's really genius if you can look at it with an open mind.
