I went and downloaded the BD, and since there's a screenshot going around that isn't really representative of the overall quality I thought I'd post a few pictures. While by no means stellar, I think in a closer shot like this, which are actually the most common kind, it does the job. The soft artifacts are removed and the color is also a bit clearer.

In this kind of shot where the characters are far away, the lines sitting so close to each other cause a mess. This never looked good, but looks slightly worse now. Also the sharpening of shapes cause the backgrounds to look differently since I guess they decrease tonal width. I'll probably download the subbed version once it's out.
