I've just watch Kino No Tabi and I must say that I watch way fewer animes than I should before everything.
Anyway, after watching it all, I've come to the conclusion that its well-written, is proof of a lot of creativity (for the montage of the images as well as the uses of the sounds and music), that the characters are intelligently designed and that the subject really philosophical (I say that but don't take me like those 12 years old retards who, when they aren't sure to understand, think its super cool - Bioshock infinite for example which is total crap fits in this kind of case) isn't pushed in the face of the public. The themes and ethics are really well used.
Sometimes the dialogues are a little kitsch and all (especially at the beginning) but overall it was a incredible pleasure to watch and I will show it to the most people possible.
My question is, is this anime considered GOAT or nowhere enough people as seen it? You know, I'm aware of nothing and I'm not active enough in this media to be considered connoisseur.
Secondly, do you know other anime in this similar branch or genre where i should go next? Semi-tomboyish girls who try to understand their role and their responsibilities in need to learn new vision and ideologies or just plain philosophical stories who wont be there to answers their original and well made personal questions.
This series has made a hole my heart (especially the 10th episode, the one with androids) and it graves to be fill up.

Mushishi is very much in the same vein as Kino no Tabi. Spirits, nature, travelling, Japanese philosophy.
And no, I hardly ever see Kino No Tabi discussed here. Great series though.
