Only that Tokyo Ghoul far outdoes Parasyte. I like Parasyte; it was good for its time, but it has aged poorly.
Most characters are background decoration. Hell, even "Kimi Izumi Shinichi-kun, dayo ne?" is nothing more than a refurbished sanity bar, there to kick the viewer in the face and tell them the obvious, which is that Shinichi changes over the course of the story.
I get that purpose, but she's hardly more than that.
Again, not contesting that Parasyte is great, especially for its time, but its character development leaves a whole lot to be desired, among other things.
