If there is one character that has even less of an personality than Kirito it is this guy.
But Kirito IS beta. Literally every girl falls for him either because he was in a really convenient position to save them, or because he's nice. He's the author's self insert, and because the author is beta as fuck, the character is too. Everything is written so that Kirito never has to take the initiative or be on the offensive, every situation is framed for Kirito to show his nice guy righteousness.

But Kirito is a betamax, he just simply is a gary stu so the betamax part of him is ignored.
We don't need gary stus, because they can be betas, omegas, or alphas, but still be boring because deus ex machina every fucking time to make them be top 1 all the time.
Even their flaws are not really flaws. Like "oh he's not a gary stu because he's a loner" when the author obviously creams himself with the thought of edgy lone wolf archetypes.
We just need good MCs who aren't afraid of the world and don't make up shitty excuses to not make logical or normal choices in life.

That's cool and but the problem is that there are plenty of times were he's shown to be sociable. He saves the loli, the pink haired girl, stays friends with Klein, gets a new black friend and falls in love with Asuna and plays family with Yui.
It could have been cool but that shit just happends and he's always rather competent and his "fears" aren't explored in-depth.
